Description I finally found a use for some of the tan bohrok limbs and my dark orange pieces.

The creation:
Desertant is a Vorox and has great skills in controling sand. His whole body his wrapped with sand. In desert regions, he's able to dive into the sand and is quicker underground than on land.

References:
I tried to make something like a humanoid ant. The name is a combination of 'desert' and 'ant', but also a pun on the word 'deserted'.

Creators note:
I used ALL the dark orange pieces I had on this one. I only got a few from random ebay orders.
Only the dark orange kakama and the Huki legs were provided by ~Nazgul4 .
~Nazgul4 also provided me with all the FUCKING tan Bohrok limbs. I ONLY used 11 eleven on this one and I still have a huge load left T_T
But my MOCers pride tells me to use them somehow

I thought you said doing tan stuff was hard but you have the best tan based mocs I have seen

Oh that was my previous attempt ^^
Took it apart, because I wasn't satisfied with the torso and the limbs, got some new tan parts and wanted to make something better and thus Cassandra was created xD
This was the best way I could use tan at that point, with Cassandra I made a step forward in my opinion

to many bohrok limbs? you build centipede. >

Alex-Darkrai In reply to tristan7grunt [2012-03-08 19:11:26 +0000 UTC]

That would be an idea, but that would mean to use them in pretty repetitive way and I wanna avoid that

tristan7grunt In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2012-03-09 12:40:59 +0000 UTC]

hmmm....... synth soldier type thing? if you use the limbs as a sort of armor it kind of looks organic, and the other roboty bits could make it look like a machine organic hybrid thing.

Hooray! You did well. I'm not so happy about the lower legs though. I mean... could be better. More ant-like mebbe. Two toes, custom... blegh. Maybe you could use some bohrok limbs there!

I love the MOC's head and overall look though. Very bestial, lovely, especially those antennae and that... loincloth?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Lol-Pretzel [2011-09-11 10:12:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know, it is a loincloth (maybe)! I actualy wanted it to be one
I wanted to use those feed somehow, so I just used them there, maybe I'm gonna change them, I don't know yet.

Yet another impressive MOC from the mighty Alex To be honest I'm not sure about the tail (it looks a bit too round at the end) but it's not a big deal. The torso, as usual, is excellent though - it almost looks like the Bohrok limbs can open up, releasing another, smaller Desertant...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Rahiden [2011-09-09 18:45:33 +0000 UTC]

It can open up, but I haven't tested it with the finished MOC yet
I bet it would look pretty creepy xD

Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-09 09:03:31 +0000 UTC]

WOW! I love the use of tan and the brownish orange together. I don't have many tan parts unfortunately. I've wanted to use tan on something but don't really have enough to justify using it. I only had the two Pohatus that had tan arms and legs and the roborider that had tan on it as well. I used most of my brownish orange on Mechus and Gravix. This is so cool though alex, I'm jealous of all your tan and brownish orange.

I'm wondering about that hammer in front of his face though, it looks more in the way than anything. As usual it looks really good but also looks like movement is a little impeded by how bulky and clustered together everything is. But that's just your style. I personally would want more articulation, but it wouldn't look as good as this. Yet another brilliant MOC using colors not many people seem to work with.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-09 09:51:04 +0000 UTC]

Nah, the articulation is pretty good this time ^^
The hammer? .... yeah, it's not really needed ... but it fits in there, so I felt like putting him there xD
I got a lot of tan paieces from the star wars battle droid technic set. God those star wars technic sets had a lot of useful pieces >.>"

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Lol-Pretzel [2011-09-11 10:22:35 +0000 UTC]

That's basically what I wanted. But as I said, the hammer is not really necessary, it just looks cool xD

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-09 10:21:37 +0000 UTC]

That's good.
Yeah, but it looks like its in the way of the vorox mask. Hmmm maybe its just the angle.
I know. I had a few myself. 2 DVs, one storm trooper, R2D2, C3PO, Jango Fett, and the super battle droid. I never got the regular battle droid, the pit droid or the roller droid(I forget its name) Hmmm might be worth looking into seeing if I can find em for cheap on ebay. Though I don't have any money right now.

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-13 17:59:09 +0000 UTC]

Ehh, I don't really know ... I just recently spend too much money on random parts from ebay (but they're still a lot more worth than I paid). Now I'm pretty much blank again >.>"
Therefore I have enough parts to start some projects xD
But still not enough for my secret project ...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-14 00:17:38 +0000 UTC]

Ooh. Well lucky you. I can't ever find ebay auctions that would really give me a lot of useful parts. A lot of it looks like stuff I've already got way too much of. Plus I'm pretty broke now. And I'm not getting any money from anyone any time soon.
You keeping a secret project? I'm afraid now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-14 00:27:22 +0000 UTC]

You don't have to be! It's still in development. I already had the idea for it when I reworked Byorak for the first time (here on dA). I've collected parts for it from that point on. I once made a first attempt, which ended right away again. Now I'm gonna give it a second shot. But I'm still worrying that I don't have enough pieces to realize my ideas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-14 00:50:22 +0000 UTC]

well you have a way of making any MOC really really good so something this secretive and this much thought put into is surely going to outclass anything you've done before as well as any of my stuff. You've got such an amazing style of building that I wish I could emulate, hell I wish I could simply understand some of it. The way you get the parts so close together on some MOCs is perplexing.

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-14 10:32:11 +0000 UTC]

Let's see how it's gonna come out
Nothing is settled yet. I really have to see how it's gonna work out ...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-14 13:53:24 +0000 UTC]

Well if it doesn't work out, it won't be because your lack of clever thinking and ingenuity, it'll simply be because lack of parts, and that can't really be helped sometimes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-14 14:20:51 +0000 UTC]

Say, I haven't seen the difference yet, but when do you use 'part' and when do you use 'piece'? In my language there's only a word which can mean both, so I'm often a bit confused.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-18 02:30:02 +0000 UTC]

they're interchangeable, they mean the same thing in what we mean. But in general speaking "piece" can mean a small portion of something, like "I dropped a vase and it shattered into a bunch of pieces." Parts are components of something generally. "I'm working on the engine of my car but it needs a new part."

Alex-Darkrai In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2011-09-18 11:31:29 +0000 UTC]

So parts would technical fit more?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Alex-Darkrai [2011-09-18 18:36:32 +0000 UTC]

Ummm yeah. Either or works but I suppose parts would technically be more correct, yes.
