Description My Entry for the competition by Capcom &  MyMiniFactory !
The model isn't approved yet, so can't be found there right now. I'll provide the link as soon as I get an approval! (There's a 3D model view there!)

EDIT: It's finally printed and online! www.myminifactory.com/object/s…

Sorry to my watchers who expected bionicle stuff. I still have no way of working with Lego at the moment, so go for other types of arts whenever I get the chance.

Well what is much to say? The competition was about re-designing a Monster Hunter Generations weapon for 3D-printing. I wanted to do a Great Sword because they're my favorite and I wanted to create one which is ideal for 3D-printing. Because 3D-printing usually uses a mono colored material, I wanted my weapon to be mostly one color. I also wanted to have a weapon which has a lot of fluent shapes which can be shown through a three dimensional model. In the end I decided for the Skeletal Great Sword, a weapon created with the materials of the newly added elder dragon in Generations, Nakarkos.

It's also one of my favorite weapons to use in-game, because of its massive damage. Combined with the new skill Bludgeoner it gets even stronger!
For comparision; the kiranico-page about the Skeletal Great Sword!

Well, that's it! Wish me luck for the competition! Maybe I have some chance.

It does look like it could be a Bionicle weapon, so that's a bonus X'D

Its origin is the Monster Hunter franchise!
Fun fact: my biggest MOC Byorak originates from the hunter concept from those games!
He also hunts for big monster and rare materials to improve his armor and weapons.
That's also why some of his armor pieces are designed to resemble the features of monsters!

Ah! My knowledge on the Monster Hunter franchise is a little limited, as my experience is 3, 3 Ultimate and 4. And well, a lot of people hated 3's underwater mechanic, but I really loved it, and I kinda lost my motivation when they took it out in 4, because it was the region I did best in. It's cool to see stuff from it though, the designs are awesome

I had my first go with Freedom Unite on the PSP, but dropped it pretty early on.
Came back with 3U and have pretty much played every game till G-Rank afterwards.
Underwater combat was hated by most, including me. Might give it a try with better controls, like on the Wii or maybe with a Switch port, but I really think the combat system shines on flat ground.

The designs stayed amazing until MHWorld where it got somewhat generic. Maybe they solve that with the expansion Iceborne which drops in less than a month!

Hmm, we'll see. I can't be the only person who was really good at the underwater sections though, surely!

Hey, you're not dead! Nice to see something from you Alex, even if it's not Bionicle. How have you been?

Stressed, to sum it up!
Currently working on my master thesis, one week left till it needs to be finished, but also didn't want to miss out on this competition!
Afterwards, I may have to move to another city depending on the job I'm gonna get, so maybe I'll finally have enough space to work with Legos again!

Oh, sorry to hear that. At least you're making progress. Things will get better for you soon. My life on the other hand is one giant hamster wheel. I'm running and running and running, but am going nowhere.

I hope you could get back to MOCing. You were one of my favorite MOCers and I always enjoyed your sense of aesthetics and creativity. I've really missed seeing MOCs from you.

Feels good to hear that! Really!
(not the part with your life being a hamster wheel, that's a little sad, but you're keeping going! Stoping and giving up on improving the situation you're in would be far worse!)

I'd like to get back to MOCing, but the limited space and the little time I have on my hands just wouldn't allow me to build proper MOCs. I don't wanna end up posting half-assed MOCs, because I acn't invest enough time into developing them.

Hopefully, my life after university which is about to come will give me time and space to get back to one of my favorite hobbies.

That made me laugh. Yeah, true. I mean I suppose I could always just give up and opt out of life, but I don't want to do that. It'd hurt a lot of people and I don't want to do that to them. Plus there's still always more good music, lego sets and things about life to enjoy. Even if I'm not fulfilled its no reason to give up. Just gotta keep going I guess.

Yeah I feel ya on that one. Well my advice is to do what I've been doing. When I am working full time I focus like crazy on the weekends to get to MOCing. The downside to this approach is that it takes weeks or even months to get a MOC done that might otherwise take you a few days or one week. The advantage of this is perspective on the MOC, plus you have time to order parts and wait for them to arrive. What I mean about perspective is that you work on your MOC, put it down, come back to it in a few days maybe with fresh eyes and can reevaluate whether or not you still like it. This is the process I've been going through with my big giant Mech that will have power functions in it. Its taken me so long to even get where I am now and I only have the upper half and no interior or pilot. I still have quite a lot to do and its already been months after two separate long hiatuses from working on it. If I can do it, you can do. I'm pretty sure I'm far more impatient than you are.

Hopefully. What are your plans after school? Do you have work lined up or what?
