Description
Wow, my first real upload in about five months.Yes, I know it's very over-glowy, but for some reason when it comes to drawing Crowned, I can't help but make things that way. This is like a "Project Orpheus" (an earlier Crowned picture that also includes many glowing objects)
Version 2. This is also sort of another part of a series ("The Power of...") in which I can't figure out what I'll do for the background, so instead of drawing something that makes sense I add a whole bunch of glowing tentacle things to make it look nice. The other "Power Of" pictures are hidden somewhere in my gallery. I think after I finished one of them, *Abalone-Da-SeaSnail requested that I make an orange themed "Power Of" picture. So I did.
All the shiny sparkly orangeness makes this picture look way better than it actually is. I really should stay away from that, lest I shall forever be trapped making crappy pictures that pretend to be really good.
Also, my monitor is kind of funny, so it might be too dark.

Wow, I just looove this. Don't worry about his over-glowiness it looks fantastic! Plus I like glowy things. I really love his design with his blue whiskers and orange eyes. And yes, those flames up front really enhance the image. Awesome!

Heh, I wouldn't call those flames, but more like...glowy tentacles? I'm not sure.
Yeah, I rather liked the contrasting colors in this one...and I guess glowy is good sometimes. Thank you.

Aww, haha. Thank you.
I like your newest picture, it really triggers my imagination about what means...and I like it when pictures do that. They don't need to be an insanely detailed masterpiece to be interesting. You should make more stuff like that...

(I wanted to tell you all of this on AIM, but you magically disappeared out of nowhere!)
I don't think you're disguising a bad drawing with distracting cool effects...I think your drawing is strong to begin with. And while we're on the topic of lighting effects, I find it very very superior that you would use purple in the shadows and highlights as your light source is orange. This is correct color theory, and I don't even know if you knew it or not. Not to mention that contrasting colors like that make for a really interesting and moving composition to begin with.
I feel like an art teacher...rawr.
The only true critique I'd offer is to focus a wee bit more in the shoulder region---a difficult area for quadrupeds.... and an area that I also have great difficulty with---especially front facing straight-on shots like this.
But bad drawing? No way. I envy your talent to extremes you don't even know. I actually used your recent tutorial on the snow leopard since I have such a difficult time drawing cats that DON'T look Disney-esque. This cat here don't look Disney. He looks wild-untamable and the way a cat should look.
If you can do this kind of work with quads, I'd love to see what you can do working with the human figure. It's not all that bad, dudet---jump into it, sooner rather than later.
I'm really glad that you finally posted a big work here. I knew you had one hiding somewhere in the shadows. Glad to see you uploading again, D.
Stay cool.

Wow, man...thanks for all of that. By all means, tell me all about the technical stuff. Thanks for the critique...
I'm glad that the snow leopard picture could be a help to you. It's kinda interesting that you envy my drawing skills so much...I envied you first
I don't know what to say that I already told you...just thanks for taking the time to talk about my art. An interesting read...
