BIO/BACKSTORY
Youngest of 5 siblings and baby of the family,this little fella was an unplanned pregnancy that ended 3 months before the due date : in the middle of a summer thunderstorm ( Hence her name ). She was born very little and underweight for a newborn foal and with severe health issues;she had to be transferred to a more equipped hospital in Canterlot and stay there for a few months.
She still gets hospitalized quite often and can't be left unsupervised due to her unstable health.

She has an introverted,asocial and at times shy nature that prefers inanimate objects and quiet solitude to people (she got diagnosed on the autism spectrum) :she makes exceptions for animals tho.

Her default behavior is calm with a resting bitch face, but can completely change demeanor in a blink of an eye if put in specific situations: overwhelmed and stressed when in a strange or loud enviroment; prone to violent episodes when cornered; perfectly relaxed when she's in her own bubble.

She rarely shows this emotions verbally outside of her family,and even then you really have to trigger something inside of her to get her to talk (or yell).
She may have got Rainbow's looks,but she's certainly got Twilight's brains.
She is very precocious and intelligent for her age: she can read,write,solve riddles and math problems,but doesn't quite grasp jokes and sarcasm yet.
She has a vast vocabulary that only comes in handy when she snaps at someone.

She zones out...A lot.Sometimes she seems so absent that she could be into another dimension.And when she is deep into her thoughts she sticks her tongue out.She had this weird habit since birth and it freaks out everyone the first time they meet her.

She's a huge geek and music fan.You can thank Spike for that.
Instead of stacks of books,like her mom Twilight,she has a shit ton of comicbooks,action figures,super heroes movies,videogames and posters that plaster her bedroom and game room;she had to get reading glasses because of how much time she spent locked up in there.
Music has a really therapeutic effect on her,it helps her either calm down or focus on something.
She uses a pair of headphones when she goes out to prevent a meltdown.

Being the member of such a famous and successful family suggested that Summer was going to be held at very high standards.Being born with antisocial tendencies,health problems and unaturally small wings and seeing her siblings being praised for their accomplishment ,while all she gets are pitiful looks and sneers no matter what goals she reaches,because it isn't enough for their standards,set her up to develop a huge inferiority complex and overly self-concious attitude.

RELATIONSHIPS

Rainbow was so desperately attached to Summer in the first months of her life,when she was still juggling between life and death;when her health improved she thought the worst was finally over but then came the news of her wings situation and Rainbow fell down the rabbit hole of worry for her daughter all over again.
She couldn't wrap her head around this terrible news;never in her family there was a flightless pegasus and she knew too well how grounded pegasi were being treated as pariahs by society.

She certainly didn't wish this future upon anyone,especially her own daughter so she shifted her full attention rather than on Summer,more on her flying training as soon as she was able to stand.
Rainbow was a late bloomer.Her mother trained her heavily when she was little and it eventually helped her build her character, confidence,skill and it didn't strain the relationship with her mother at all.Nope,not at all.

When Rainbow's parents found out about it,they not so kindly suggested to fix the problem as soon as possible.Rainbow hesitantly complied to them
Rainbow is not nearly as cold and strict as her mother was with her by a long shot: she truly tries to make their flying lessons a bonding moment.But while her own failures as a kid fueled her determination to keep trying, become the best and make her parents proud,Summer flying incapacity just keeps shooting down her self-esteem,feeds her frustation and makes her believe that unless she learns to fly,her mom won't love her.

Obviously,Rainbow is unaware on what is going on inside Summer's head and believes that she just needs a little push;she hypes her up every chances she gets,unconsciously putting her on the spot,producing the opposite effect.

Because of all this,Summer can't hold eye contact with her own mother,she goes totally non-verbal with her and sometimes flinches away at her touch.
Rainbow is left emotionally devastated everytime one of these behaviors occur.She doesn't know what to do to fix it.She is scared she is starting to become her mother and the last thing she wants is to her own daughter to be scared of her.
She often reminisces about those first few months with newborn Summer and ponders about the moment she could've possibly started to slip away from her.

Twilight,on the contrary,disconnected from the world after the twins' birth because of how traumatic the experience was.She moved to Canterlot for a few months so her family could help her and eventually recovered from the shock.
When they moved back to Ponyville she went into full mama bear mode.

It was Twilight that caught on Summer's anti-social behaviors pretty early on.She noticed how Summer liked to play alone rather than with other kids;she did not look directly at kids and adults and she screamed at people that tried to pick her up.
She got diagnosed on the autism spectrum not much later.

Twilight was too left rather upset: Summer was already gonna have a lot of problems because of her health,now this too.
Much like Rainbow,she took matters in her own hooves and read countless of books and went to several child psychiatrist appointments to get a better grasp on how to approach this part of Summer.

Twilight is Summer's anchor and one of the few people she's fully comfortable with.She often has to mediate between Summer and the rest of the world.

She doesn't really have a strong bond with the rest of her family: she's neutral to Twilight's side of the family,but likes her uncle Spike and cousin Leo;she avoids Rainbow's parents like the plague;she doesn't really pays much attention to Ace and Hunter but Aden can go drown in a river for all she cares;she enjoys Prism company but only when in small doses.

She has a single friend,made in kidergarten: her name is Cloud Snatch and even though Summer was very wary of her,she eventually warmed up to her presence.

EXTRAS

-She sleeps with a stuffed bear given by her aunt 'Shy.She also sleeps very little at night and takes lots of naps during the day.Her parents are convinced she's,in fact,a batpony.

-Even though she's literally a walking ball of fluff,she doesn't appreciate unwanted touch,especially from strange old ladies that really want to coo and squish her cheeks.Oh hell no.

-She can fall asleep anywhere,except her crib.

-Her wings are tiny and mostly made of soft downy feathers that are useless to fly with.

-She's actually really afraid of hospitals despite passing 3 months of her life in one and having no problems.

-She is a huge klutz and often trips on her own hooves and fall to the ground eating s--t.That is why she officially got the nickname of Rainbow Crash Junior,Crash Jr. for short,by other foals in preschool.

-She has inherited some of the acent unicorns' traits:like the leonine tail right

-Her first name is kind of a contradtiction:she was born in the middle of summer but she has a really pale and fluffy pelt,perfect for the winter season and hide yourself in the snow.
But she is really fascinated and feel at ease in the middle of a thunder storm.

-By being twins,for a certain period of time,Prism and Summer were both the fourth in line for the throne but since Summer was born later she was pushed back to the fifth place.

-Her middle name was chosen by Sunset,her godmother, and it means ''little fiery one''.
