Now had this been generation 6, Spring would have probably died do to knock off now having 65 power instead of 20 . And it being a physical attack.

Holy shit, give me a heart attack why don't you. Honestly I'm impressed Spring withstood that; a wet paper bag has better defense than Ralts.

Hahah omg that is a really good comparison XD wet paper bag has better defense than Ralts.

When I say that, I don't mean it in a humorous fashion. I've lost count of how many Ralts I've seen die in Nuzlocke runs because the trainer didn't understand how frail they were...

oh yeah sometimes you can be really clumsy when it comes to some battles, and oh yeah! some pokemon are really wet paper defense types!!!...

Considering Gardevoir is my favorite pokemon, it's equal parts saddening and infuriating to see it happen over and over again. I'm glad to find someone who actually got one to Gardevoir status.

haha I'm also glad I get her to the final evolution, I'm happy for everyone in my team! it become more important when you give a pokemon some character!

I wish I had anything resembling artistic talent. I really want to illustrate a nuzlocke run.

just do it! you always improve! I have done it alot in my Nuzlocke. and you can also do a writing story if you like so.

Technically, I still have a screenshot run on the Nuzlocke forums that's been on hiatus for a long time but I just haven't felt the inspiration to continue on it, since I don't feel like playing the game.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-02 13:20:48 +0000 UTC]

Intresting
Oh okay that isn't a easy to get inspiration to do

It's especially because after generation 6 changed so many mechanics, playing games in earlier generations feels weird, especially without the Fairy type. I found a tutorial to add Fairy type to the game, so I may see about using that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-02 20:45:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah nice. Fairy is still a curious and interesting species

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-02 21:03:56 +0000 UTC]

Fairy's my favorite type, actually. It helps that Gardevoir, my favorite pokemon, got a substantial buff from the addition of Fairy.

Yeah I like that! My favorite fary is the Eevee fairy avelution (That I found as a shiny Eevee in the first time I played Y)

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-02 21:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Nice! That's a keeper for sure.
I found a shiny Riolu in my first playthrough of Y (after having played X, though), which also happened to be a nuzlocke run.

My nuzlockes have been good to me, all things considered. I found a shiny female Ralts in my Platinum nuzlocke. Calm nature, excellent IVs. Came shortly after 2 deaths, so it was a much-needed boost in morale.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-03 19:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow a shiney Ralts

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-03 20:37:42 +0000 UTC]

I literally retitled the run "The Twin Gardevoirs" after I found her. (I hacked my starter to be a Ralts for that run.)

The Twin Gardevoirs. So cute

Hehe ^_^ The following run, the one I never ended up finishing, was a sequel, actually.

Oh so you have done some Nuzlockes!

Aha so you can do like that! Intresting!

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-08 19:10:43 +0000 UTC]

? What do you mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-09 18:09:54 +0000 UTC]

I only know comic Nuzlocke and then written story Nuzlocke and I also know that people do videos when they play Nuzlocke... but not this, it's new

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-09 18:18:36 +0000 UTC]

Ah, you mean screenshots. Yeah, a lot of people use screenshots for their runs on the forums. Storyshot runs like mine (hybrid between a story nuzlocke and a screenshot nuzlocke) are a fairly common sight nowadays, it seems.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-09 19:02:13 +0000 UTC]

oh but then you just play it through? with no character development?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-09 19:12:02 +0000 UTC]

In a base screenshot run, no, it's strictly a gameplay log. In a storyshot run, characters do develop, like a normal written story. It also allows for some... interesting artistic options of its own. That "screenshot" was manufactured by hand, and shows a conflict between my trainer character and the two characters for which the run is named; it's one in a sequence of 11.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-10 07:13:39 +0000 UTC]

oh okay it's more into it that what you can Think

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-10 15:10:48 +0000 UTC]

I can't do traditional art, but I can use the sprites and textures that exist already, so I'm playing to what few strengths I do have.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-11 18:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Fun that you find something you can do

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-04 21:50:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah, definitely! I believe my running count right now is 9 successful, 2 abandoned, 1 incomplete, 0 failed. Black, White2, X, Omega Ruby, and Blaze Black were blind/semiblind.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-08 11:53:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow that's much Nuzlocking!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-08 19:13:37 +0000 UTC]

I both love and hate the concept. On the one hand, it makes the games have some challenge again - I have to actually think about what I'm doing, and I can't just mindlessly repeat a challenge until I get past it, since that would mean my pokemon are dying; it also forces me to try pokemon I normally wouldn't even give a second glance. On the other hand, because I get so attached to my pokemon, it means that it hurts very severely when they die, to the point of making me ask myself why I'm putting myself through that.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-09 18:08:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's good but at the same time really bad... And if you lose someone close to the end must be terrible!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-09 18:39:54 +0000 UTC]

In the final Cyrus fight in Platinum, my Rapidash and, even more painfully, my Lopunny, which I'd had since Eterna Forest (Lv10) and that had left my party exactly once for a brief moment, both died . Terrible is too weak of a word. I wasn't sure if I wanted to just start sobbing or put my fist through the computer screen. If not for the emulator itself forcing a second chance down my throat by refusing to load any of my savestates, I don't know that I would still be doing nuzlocke runs.

Alex-namn In reply to leafbarrett [2015-11-09 19:00:01 +0000 UTC]

oh no at the same stupid bird!!!! So sad

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leafbarrett In reply to Alex-namn [2015-11-09 19:03:16 +0000 UTC]

Like I said, the emulator refused to load my savestates, so I had to load the in-game save, which lost several hours of gameplay... including that Cyrus fight. I did it right the second time.
