Description Sorry its in pink, it was the only paint color that stood out against the wolf their
Sorry also again that the title say's WOLVES and not gray wolves, I could not fit in the whole thing
Guess the type on wolf in the background and win a candy

Now before you bitch on, here
[link]

"Although the Grey Wolf still faces some threats, its relatively widespread range and stable population trend mean that the species does not meet, or nearly meet, any of the criteria for the threatened categories. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern."

Also
"2004 – Least Concern
1996 – Lower Risk/least concern
1994 – Vulnerable (IUCN) "
Seems to me, all this "save the Grey wolves!" was a tad bit late.

YES certain wolves like Mexican and... something else are endangered but as a whole are not

Also personal flames will be spammed or ignored

I really don't get this obsession everyone has with wolves. I went camping a few times in an area that had timber wolves and they are nothing like the 'majestic' animals people keep blabbering about over the internet. They're mean motherfuckers. And they're anything BUT 'endangered'. >_<

Seriously, I understand certain species of wolves being at risk. But all wolves. That's like saying because the spirit bear is endangered ALL bear species in the world are.

I agree with you on the "mean motherfuckers" part. I went to this wild canine reserve, where there were a few grey wolves. There was also this family there, with this one little kid...and those wolves were just pacing and staring at that kid like they would love to eat him. I swear, if there wasn't two chain-link fences to stop them...
And the owner of the reserve made this stupid comment to the parents "oh, they're doing that because he (the kid) is acting too much like a squirrel."

Woah, woah, woah. Who said people didn't care? All the stamp was saying was that GRAY WOLVES ARE NOT ENDANGERED. Which is simply stating a fact. No one went around screaming about how much they hated wolves.

Please, you're giving the species a bad reputation with your incessant use of caps lock. You are the reason that the Anti-Wolf group exists. Gray Wolves are listed as least concern. They were once endangered, and now they're back, which is great! We should really be focusing on the other animals, though, the ones that are critically endangered, like the scimitar horned oryx, the mountain bongo, and the axolotl, should we not?

They are. Wolves are not the same as domesticated dogs. They don't see a human being as a master or a friend, they see either a threat or lunch on two legs. o_o

OH YEAH AND ALSO WOLVES DON'T SEE HUMANS AS FRIENDS BECAUSE HUMANS KILL THEM OUT OF THE BLUE!! AND WOLVES HAVE EVEN RAISED HUMANS!!! NOW ISN'T THAT KIND FROM BEAST AS YOU WOULD SAY!!! THE ONLY REANSON WOLVES ATTACK HUMANS IS IF THE HAVE A GUN AND INJURED THEM YOU *******!!!!!!!!!!

Please, so called "wolf children" are a myth. Pretty much every case has been shown to be either a hoax or simply a case of autistic children showing coincidentally canine behaviour.

I find it strange that you say that wolves attack people because of firearms. If history tells us anything, firearms are what keep wolves from ever viewing humans as prey, hence the higher incidence of man-eating in India as opposed to near nothing in North America.

So, apart from recommending that you improve your grammar and punctuation, extra research into wolf behaviour would be adviseable. And please, chill out a bit?

This is from a book called "Mysteries of the unexplained" It's very interesting

'From time to time through history, apparently wild children have appeared in society, children who seem to have grown up by themselves or to have been reared by animals. Could an infant survive alone in the wild? Could he be "adopted" by wolves or bears, monkeys or gazelles? And if nature's child were brought into human society, would he be hopelessly retarded and a reminder of the bestial part of human nature-or a noble savage, free of the corruptions of civilization?
Scores of times since the first documented case, that of a "wolf boy" captured in the German principality of Hesse in 1344, children have been found whom many people believed were reared by animals; others have countered that these were simply orphans, perhaps abandoned because of retardation or retarded because of their isolation from human contact.
The studied case in modern times is that of Kamala and Amala, the wolf children of Midinapore, India. The Rev.J.A.L. Singh, who administered an orphanage and church school, was touring his district in 1920 when he heard stories of Manushu-baghas, or man beasts: ghostlike figures seen among the wolves who had made their den in an abandoned termite mound. He saw them himself one night and returned with helpers to dig into the mound in daylight. Two wolves darted out and ran off; a third, a female, attacked the intruders who instantly shot it. Inside the mound Singh found two girls, approximately eight and two years old, curled up with two wolf cubs. He took the girls to the orphanage and began what he saw as his Christian duty to humanize them. It was no easy task, for they ran on all fours, shunned daylight, howled as much like wolves as human vocal cords allowed, and preferred meat, even carrion, to grains and vegetables, Amala, the younger, died less than a year later. Kamala lived for nine years, and learned to walk upright and to speak afew simple phrases, although she never learned at the pace of other children."

Nobody knows how long they lived with the wolves. There is no evidence that Kamala and Amala were "raised" by wolves (i.e., adopted as babies and grown up alongside a pack). That they "lived" with wolves however is beyond dispute.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ligarththedragon In reply to Dark-Hyena [2011-05-16 16:04:20 +0000 UTC]

But wolves still raised them, or tried to raise them. It's true that they don't live for very long, but did you click the link?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dark-Hyena In reply to Ligarththedragon [2011-05-20 18:50:53 +0000 UTC]

I've seen it before.

Perhaps our definitions of "raise" are different. I would class raising as being raised since being a baby. There is no evidence that Kamala and Amala were raised that long with the wolves.

I know people can be accepted into wolf packs (heck, look at Shaun Ellis). But I've never heard of wolves accepting human babies into their packs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ligarththedragon In reply to Dark-Hyena [2011-05-20 20:44:37 +0000 UTC]

Well looking at Kamala and Amala, I think they were accepted. Usually wolves would kill human children and feed them to their pack, but these two were curled up around the cubs, so maybe they weren't raised for a long time, but they weren't torn apart like most wolves or wild animals would do to a baby that's not of their species.

Actually there are cases of feral humans, but they are VERY rare and the children never survive for vey long at all

AngryPufferfish In reply to rosiEwoLF47310 [2010-03-10 06:20:20 +0000 UTC]

Uhhhh first of all you need to calm down and stop abusing your capslock. It's seriously irritating having to look at all those blaring capitalized letters.

Secondly; No wolves did NOT evolve into dogs. Nor did dogs evolve from wolves. They had common ancestors that they stemmed from making them 'sibling' species yes but they are not completely 100% related in the sense that you are describing.

Thirdly; People do not just kill wolves out of the blue. Contrary to what you may or may not think wolves DO attack people without cause or reason. As I stated in an earlier post they can and will perceive human beings as just another food source. There have been wolf attacks that were unprovoked both historically and in modern times. Making up the excuse that every human who has ever been killed or hurt by a wolf was trying to hurt them first makes you sound like an uneducated idiot. -_-

Don't get me wrong, I have several gay friends. But I can't stand pairings like... Yuki and Kyo. They hate eachother why on earth would they be a couple!?

Learn to spell wolfaboo...and guess what?

Wolves are overrated, stupid canines that eat crap and sniff eachothers parts as greeting, they are overpopulated, they hunt our farm animals that we humans need to survive, they are surplus killers, and they are treatening and killing off too many elk and deer due to the fact that their are too many mouths to feed. I don't see why everyone loves them so much. Elk and deer have an equal right to live, and I think at this point they have more of a right to live.
