Great shot Alex! Love the short dof, gives it a dream mood, the bare tree is perfectly placed, love the ripples in the sand, just a gorgeous scene to look at, well captured! Great work, keep it up!

Wow, is all I can say.
Where was this taken? Do you live near here? I'm always really fascinated by 'deserty' shots, because there's absolutely nowhere like that around where I am, or where I've been.
Do you have a link to the other version, or did you take it down? (Am I being stupid that I can't find it?) I'd love to compare the two because of the conflicting opinions of the earlier posters.
It does look very defenseless. It's just so thin and small that it looks like the sun could burn it to pieces. The overall brown tone that the photo has enhances this, too. The composition seems to weigh really heavily on the bottom left, where the tree is, and while I don't think I'd like that normally, the title 'defencelessness' gives that some meaning, that it's weighing on the tree for a significant reason. I like it.
Oh, ha, found the other version. I like this one much better. The colour makes it feel so much more stark. (Although, I really do love the red of the sand in the foreground in the original version). The tree also appears to stand out more, which is good.
A very nice shot.

...okay, so maybe I can say a bit more than 'wow'.

pretty... but I liked the previous version much more than this one. The sun and desert looked so powerfuul, this little tree was really defencelees... in this version I don't get this feeeling.

A not-blue sky that I love. An excellent foreground with a message (not to mention technical excellence).

Outstanding work!
