I believe so, yes. I wish S2ka could better inform you, but I haven't heard from him in some time, and he hasn't replied to any of my messages, but if anyone has any comments or questions for him I will do my best to pass them along to him or any of the other artists involved in the book thus far. Thank you again for inviting me!

Yeah haven't had a chance to check all of it out yet but will soon.Β  Always like to see some Blood Spirit mechs though.

I 100% agree! It sort of sucks that you don't see much out of the Spirits until the Wars of Reaving.

Yeah. "Best warriors" who always lose. At least they died like spirits before being changed into something lame. Like aidan pryde dying when he was still cool

They did the same to the Black Widow... is sort of FASA's lot in life. I mean it's war, people die, and it sucks and of course FASA had to bear the brunt of people unhappiness at doing what was best for the story. Personally I'd have been happier to see Cameron St.Jamias and Nicholie Malthus ripped in to pieces by being drawn and quartered to Locusts running on MASC, but like the song says: You can't always get what you want...

As for the Spirits, they make me chuckle. Pound for pound they are every bit as good as the Wolves, or the Scorpions, but they are always outnumbered like 5:1, they have no serious naval and aerospace assets to speak of, and so its no wonder they get their faces punched in. It really annoys me, but what doesn't;t? LoL

Well, Black Widow got the short end of the stick. Jump jet to the face by a bloodless, old warrior like Joanna? That's just about the ultimate insult.

FASA was fine for the most part except that the hero factions always won and the secondary factions almost never did.Β  I can understand the Blood Spirits getting beaten down by the Adders if faced with superior numbers, but when they have an equal battle in the Grand Refusal they still got stomped? Chose to fight in a forest with long-ranged mechs? Doesn't make a lot of sense. Similarly Fed Com have a civil war, Falcons and Wolves have an all-out Refusal war, and at the end of each the political boundaries are largely unchanged, no one decides to come in and invade them? Or if they do, they're completely unsuccessful (Vipers).

CGL seems to have finally changed some of the old boundaries with the Jihad and subsequent Dark Age, but I didn't care for a lot of the fiction. Mostly buy the historical books nowadays.

Yeah, killed by the Falcon's rookery maid was a pretty insulting blow - glad to hear someone else say it beside me.

Every play baseball and have a choke moment? You beg and beg your friends to let you play, insisting you are good. You spend day after day in practice, at night reading books, learning everything you can about the game. And then your friends finally give you the chance - and you are at base, ready to swing for the fences, and going over everything in your mind about how to be a good player, and you are so read, and just as the ball is entering the box - CHOAK! - you overthink it, or you lose focus, or you wander for some other reason.
You will have chances later, but more difficult then getting over the disrespect and teasing you are going to come your way, is getting over the internal moral damage you are inflict on yourself for blowing your chance. And in the meantime, while you are getting back up from the hit you just took you have to decide how you are going to do it: Throw a tantrum, blame others, etc.. Or dust yourself off, shut your mouth and try again!

Ugh, like most old school BattleTech fans I hated the "Dark Age" concept. It was a cart before the horse scenario with the idiots at Wizards of the Coast looking for any kind of thin justification they could in order to make up for their mistake with that failure of a click-based game. Thin man, very, very thin (and typical Wizards of the Coast).

ON the upside, projects like the books I am working on are often welcomed with enthusiastic arms when people read the alternate continuity idea.

HA, we said the same thing when we captured it. It was being used by a Jade Falcon Star Captain who had been captured from the Blood Spirits and was still seriously pissed off about it. The Falcons had sent him on a deep raid against the Lyran's to work off some of that anger (or get him killed, they were fine with either). We happened to draw the short straw for the planet he decided to raid - but luckily he hit 2 companies of us (who are mostly upgraded with clan tech), and got his faced punched in hard enough that he was willing to take a Bachall -Hegira for his surviving men, and his surrender as a bondsmen if he lost. Sadly he died in that fight, but we honored him with a warriors funeral, which won us some cred with the Spirits later. Cost us a nice Shadowhawk though (Rolls said the clan XL was scrap, so we considered her totaled and wrote her off for salvage). The Stooping Hawk was mostly intact though save for needing new electronics in the head, new Neuro helm, and some armor and internal components (pilot was killed when the last of his ammo cooked off in the launcher, and fried his mellon).

Kinda weird seeing a 55-tonner looking so small, but I guess it's roundabout 10 meters (maybe 12).

ItΒ has the advantage of a tight profile, which oddly makes it look shorter, but that's all an optical illusion, cause if you do measure the scale compared to the humans around it, bout 30ishΒ feet (3 stories) is the norm for most mechs in that medium-to-heavy weight zone. The Crusader is the first to break the mold and come out taller, but if you look at mechs as a whole in BattleTech, even Assault mechs never stand taller then 40 feet.

The pilot of this mech used to have a Shadow Hawk, which was originally Akira's when they were in the sword of light together. As the years went on and parts for the S-Hawk got more and more scarce, to the point of his tech team having to custom shape armor plates and internal structure struts, it just got glaringly obvious he needed an upgrade. He piloted a Thug in the DCMS, but got the chance to salvage the Stooping Hawk after a lucky head hit took out theΒ clanΒ Ghost Bear pilot. Sometimes a story helps make the image have context, which can add to the cool factor!!

We've discussed it - updates to those images will be forth coming in the months ahead. I am coming up on a way point - the 50% complete on the hardest part of the writing, which is the new tech. So soon you will be seeing more of the writing I love to do, and the wonderful pictures to match up with them!

We're also going to be considering opening story submissions and other bits of fluff to help flesh out the universe (Its good when its not all written by one guy) - the Inner Sphere got a lot bigger after the Clan Invasion, and we always liked to account for that fact.

That does sound like a neat idea. There are a lot of talented people around who would most likely like to help with that. I might be among them, depending on how things turn on the next few weeks (time has been rather limited lately). I'll be eager to see where you go with this.
