The only time I used Windows recently was to print a document. The PC didn't turn on properly and I couldn't interact with anything, just a blank screen. So I force shut it down. Then it booted into startup repair and did that for 15 minutes before it booted back up, laggy as hell. This is why I use Linux.

I use Windows and Ubuntu.
^^
I don't mind at all if a person is using Linux or Windows (but I do mind a little to a person who uses Mac... just saying).

Yup. Even mine... I had to format my windows long time ago because I messed up and got a lot of adware but now I learned from my mistakes from the pass and I know a little more about windows and especially how to take care of it :3

Oh wow.Β What type of Linux was it? , , Linux Suse, Linux red hat, Linux Puppy, Linux Fedora, or ect? Β And did you dual boot or keep Linux side to side with Windows?

AbdouBouam In reply to WindyThePlaneh [2014-12-22 22:17:30 +0000 UTC]
it was debian, but i replaced it with gnome ubuntu
i also have androidx86, windows xp, ubuntu studio, arch linux, open suse, linux puppy, damn vulnerable linux, backtrack 5r3, and freeBSD in virtua box
and isn't keeping linux side to side with windows the same as dualbooting?

Wow!Β That's a lot of Operating Systems :3 I only have Windows 7 starter, Ubuntu, iPhone version 4.2.1, and android jellybean in which I am planning to root one day but I am afraid to ruin something D:Β I also have my iPhone jailbreak And I have aero in Windows 7 starter :3 and Ubuntu, well I haven't done anything special with Ubuntu yet...
In VMware Player, IΒ have Linux Mint, Windows NT 4, Windows 98, and Fedora 20 LXDE.Β And yes, dualbooting is the same as side to side with an operating system.Β Sorry for repeating myself...

How? I will respect a person with a Mac now. I have a friend with a Mac and I don't mind him for that :3 He also has a Linux mint computer but he uses his Mac more than Linux mint since he is new to it. I respect him... His account is but he doesn't use deviant art a lot

i was just kidding
i use linux 99% of the time and windows 8.1 when i need to, and all my art in the gallery is made with open source softwares
and btw i literally never used mac, i don't like the fact you need special hardware for it , but i don't care about what people use

Ok, sorry. I sometimes take things seriously but it's a good thing that you don't care what people use... So here is
And to be honest, I use more windows than ubuntu but not to worry, I still use them both

cool, a free internet ticket, now i can use it to see cat videos and stuff
i don't like ubuntu's default desktop environment a lot, i had to use gnome-flashback because that's what i needed

Yay!Β Enjoy your cat videos! Β And I am also planning to change my Ubuntu desktop environment for 2 reasons: I think it is much lighter than Unity and Compiz and 2, I can make it look like a Windows operating system and it will make it fast :3Β is can a laggy thanks to Compiz which is taking a lot of CPU so I think changing desktop environment might help the lag a bit...

gnome-flashback and lxde and xfce are very lightweight and take minimal cpu use

WindyThePlaneh In reply to AbdouBouam [2014-12-22 23:09:08 +0000 UTC]
Yup Going to install gnome-flashback once I am in Ubuntu because like I said, I use windows 7 a lot :3Β I am currently in Windows because I am scanning for viruses in MS essentials even though I already know how to take care of my computer from viruses but you know how anti-viruses are when you haven't had a full scan in a week or so.Β They keep annoying you to make a full scan and they won't stop bothering you until you do the scan.Β Man, it's annoying! D:Β But the scan is completed and I won't be bothered any moreΒ Β ... until a week or so.

i always ignore those warning, and if my computer gets a virus i remove it manually without the antivirus in most cases

Yeah but I just do it just in case because one day I was in Deviantart.Β I didn't have adblock on, thenΒ suddenly something weird happen.Β The page says something about an exploit virus or something like that and I thought it was one of those fake anti-viruses ads that pop-up in full screen.Β I don't remember but when I check in MS security essentials in the history, it said that it kept a virus in All detected items and I think it wasΒ a virus attack and my anti-virus was protecting me and I was like WOW just wow... I did an scan and nothing is found and so I just keep adblock on all the time and scan my computer just in case I wasn't careful in what I was doing..Β And I don't know how to remove viruses manually so I think I let the anti-virus do the job if not I will go to Ubuntu to delete the files and do some Google search if needed to remove the virus.Β I can see all my files in Ubuntu, especially the windows files.Β I even deleted a stubborn folder in which I couldn't delete in Windows because it said that it couldn't find the location of the folder and it was annoying! D:Β So I went to Ubuntu and deleted the folder from there and when I booted in Windows, the annoying folder was gone!Β Β I was about to explode of anger but thanks to Ubuntu, I didn't
