Description Well, this is my second tutorial ever. Not too special but some might like it, some might not.
My motivation was Zymic because they said on their page that they are looking for a tutorial maker and I contacted them. They said they like it but I never received the payment nor an answer after I told them where to send the money.

Anyways, this tutorial is made to show the steps I followed to make the orbs that I have used in my ORBATIC Wallpaper which can be found here: [link]

Hope you like it!

Nice tutorial and I like your website designs - I may "borrow" one or two concepts - hope that's ok!

alexdesigns In reply to golfeus [2008-11-06 14:23:07 +0000 UTC]

What exactly do you mean by "borrow"?

golfeus In reply to alexdesigns [2008-11-10 07:10:50 +0000 UTC]

I mean that I like some of your design ideas, and I think I'll try to do something similar in one or two of my own websites.

I'm not stealing your designs - just complimenting them by imitating some of the ideas!

i got a question.. when i make a rectangular selection using the marquee tool..i cant use the lens flare option.. what might be the problem?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexdesigns In reply to vjvince [2007-07-08 11:20:18 +0000 UTC]

You have to use that to copy/paste a square from the dark background. After the new layer has been created when you pasted the square, you have to go to Filters to add the Lens Flare

vjvince In reply to alexdesigns [2007-07-08 11:43:20 +0000 UTC]

oh.. i did that.. Ctrl+C right? the Ctrl+V then Filters?
yikes... sorry i really dont know how.. but thanks anyway for your answer... this tutorial is really cool..and i need to do it right... badly...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexdesigns In reply to vjvince [2007-07-08 11:49:08 +0000 UTC]

well yeah, just make sure you're on the dark bg layer, then make a square using that tool, then CTRL+C and then CTRL+V
You will then have to simply go to filters and follow the tutorial.

maybe stupid question, but is there a link to the tutorial? I can't find one

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexdesigns In reply to TheFoWl [2007-02-28 09:23:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes. If you click on the Download button at the left, you will download a zip file that will then have to be extracted. You will afterwards open the .html page and that's it!

Do you like it? Did you find it easy to understand? The tutorial wasn't really 'how to make a cool orb' but more like to learn new techniques that can be used not only on orbs, but on other things as well. Hope you enjoyed it!

TheFoWl In reply to alexdesigns [2007-02-28 16:19:06 +0000 UTC]

well... i wrote that comment, when i haven't did this, just found the download button

i started with the tut, but at the point with the eh... lens flare or so ^^ after i had deleted the select, the square still can be seen very strong out of the circle form maybe not dark enough grey?

i hope you know what i mean xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexdesigns In reply to TheFoWl [2007-02-28 17:21:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I understand. Well, you could always delete the corners of the square manually, by making a circle with a feather of 20 or something like that, and delete them. Not sure if you understand, but it's not hard. Just be creative!

This tut requires some basic knowledge of Photoshop anyway..
