Cover to IDW's Speed Racer series. It was a challenge to combine a painterly style with anime-style characters. I think Alex Ross did a brilliant bridging of the two styles with his G-Force covers, the feel of which I wish I could have aped in some regard. Not sure if I'm completely satisfied with this piece, but I did appreciate educational value of the exercise nevertheless.Related content

i think racer x came out the most in Alex Ross' style, but I love the lighting and painting on Speed and the family- i think it's the mix of the cartoony eyes with the painting that makes this piece kick! ^^
