• History:
Odette was bathing with seven fellow swan maidens in a pond in the mortal world one day when she was young, her garment resting on a boulder nearby. A group of soldiers were walking by on a supply run and they ambushed the swan maidens, trying to steal their gowns in order to attain brides. Odette, who managed to retrieve her gown, watched as her sisters were forced away by the soldiers and forced to be breeding stock, basically. The men were unfaithful and often cruel to her sisters. Odette did everything she could to help her sisters find their pelts, but after the fourth one died from depression, the others finally submitted to their own, staying with them for the rest of their lives in a state of deep depression.

When she was eighteen, she decided that the mortal world was no longer safe for her kind. She'd heard rumors while out travelling for her sisters' pelts that there was a world between worlds that was created by gods and other magical creatures as a safe haven for deities and supernatural beings to escape the harmful and anti-deity ways of the mortal world. She'd grown tired of constantly being on guard around mortals due to their repeated attempts at stealing her pelt. She wasn't naive enough to believe that the supernatural beings and gods wouldn't attempt it, but she hoped that they'd be a bit more courteous of her. She gathered all her things and tracked down someone who knew how to get to the other world, which she learned was called Dievas.

‣ Swan Maidens are often similar to selkies in folklore.
‣ It is a mostly female race, but there have been the rare males that have the same power.
‣ The garment (for my purposes) are different for every person- mine's a ballet outfit.
‣ When someone steals her garment, she is unable to flee, effectively being kept prisoner unless she finds her garment again.
‣ I chose her first name off of two very popular depictions of swan maidens- the ballet Swan Lake and The Swan Princess which is my favorite fairy tale of all time. For her last name, I'm just very unoriginal and like my names to relate to my character's influence. OTL
‣ I based her garment off of a version of Swan Lake I saw when I was younger, the skirt and head pieces representing feathers. The top of the bodice is based off of the feathers as. The orange jewel on her chest is similar to a beak, or at least I attempted it to be like that. OTL
