Description
~ Time for your bath, children. On May 19, 1922 the second All-Russian Komsomol Conference decided to create pioneer units all over the country.
Thousands of Young Pioneer camps were set up where children went during summer vacation and winter holidays. All of them were free of charge, sponsored by the government and Trade Unions.
These were basically children's camps where kids would spend their summers, playing together, learning, swimming, learning knots, earning medals, wearing red ties, and loving grandfather Lenin.
The 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union had devastated funding for the Pioneer camps and most of them had been forgotten and are now consumed by nature in decay.
This is a shot from one of these camps, lost deep in forest of Siberia.
From what I can tell... this used to be a bathroom.
I jumped into the bathtub and rode in it, praising the spirit of grandfather Lenin.

Hmm... I for one despise socialism and capitalism equally. I desire privatlly owned property for all; allow famillies to manage their own land and children.

a shot, which hits hard on me ... as a child I had some good times in similar camps in eastern germany (bevor 1989). We also met with French, American and Russian kids there ....
One camp I visited is still in use for cheap holdiay near Berlin today. A very quite place today, with a lot of history...
great memories! Thank you for the shot!

I don't know why but I was drawn to this shot. It's depressing and melancholy, and it displays a lot of emotion. I love the scattering of objects.

Amazing; I love the little bit of history you provide with it. It gives the picture a lot more meaning. Otherwise, you'd perceive it as a scene from a horror movie, but now... It looks sad, desolate, nostalgic, almost.
It's really beautiful.
