Description
This is an illustration I did a few months ago, which is basically a digital collage. Everything is 'built' from scratch, from photos I took, and others I found online. What I was really trying to do here was to make an 'ad' for a futuristic resort. It's amazing to think that not only in the future there'll be flying vehicles, but that there'll be brochures for them as well!Related content

well, all those little lights are parts of photographs, so technically, they took the least amount of time!

It's like collage making...cutting out parts of photographs and throwing them all down to make a new and hopefully interesting image....I'll make a tutorial of this one of these days

Some questions. do you use any photos to get those perspectives right? I can never do those!

what you gotta do to solve the perspective problem is to set up your grid( lines radiating from your vanishing point, or points) and adjust everything to those lines using the free transform/distort options in ps. You can make a grid easily with the line tool.......follow the grid, and your perspective will rule! This particular image is 'built' completely out of photos I cut apart and reformed according to the perspective.....hope that helps!

Here I am, thinking it was a 3D render. But reading the comments made Me realise it was painted the manual way, so I respect it more. I think the heavy use of aqua and green against dark buildings gives it a classic-future style artwork.

I'd say this thing took a good eight hours. A big part of it was distorting/free transforming the images in PS, and of course lots of gradient work, hue, and level changes.

Turned out pretty nice for a collage. It must have taken some time to find all the right photos. Good job man. I like the designs for the big cruise ship things.

thanks guys! I guess I've been into the whole matte thing for about six months now, it's a fun way to work off photos.

There's an absolutely incredible amount of detail in this. To me it looks like quite a gothic scene, probably because of the green lights. The ship designs look very futuristic though. How long have been matte painting?
