I'm actually intrigued by the map structure. Since East Africa split away from the main continent, it looks like a solid belt of rainforest can reach coast to coast like it did before the rift formed. This could mean that specialized grassland/open country organisms are isolated north and south, meaning that it could be possible that the fauna north of the forests would be different from the ones in the south. I'm curious how that would go.
Also I think mountain buildup in Western Asia could influence water flow around Eastern Europe, Northeastern Africa, and Western Asia. I think the mountains might create a waterline and divide new rivers. So the Balkan areas might be wetter due to new rivers.
I don't agree with the loss of the Mediterranean Sea. With low elevations and river flow from the Alps and Asia Minor chains, rivers could feed into the basin. It won't be the same, but the sea would be a shadow of its former self.

The most interesting region seems to be the "Rift valley's" island, many endemisms there?

I have made the map based on the description in the Neocene Project. You can ask the author of the project for that questions.

Do you mind if a have some suggestions?
I think that various more areas should be flooded or partially flooded. For example, Bangladesh, The Amazon Basin and parts of North America like Florida and New Orleans.

I know. I don't have developed sinking or elevations of the ground so far. This map shows only the grouping of continents and islands.

AlexSone In reply to malevouvenator [2012-03-17 18:23:21 +0000 UTC]
I think it is some sinking of the ground an elevating of water level
