Description Ok just to clarify, black and white photography for me is like Gwyneth Paltrow singing. We should both probably stick to the things that work best for us. However you can only teach a old dog new tricks if you make the effort to have a go at the concept.

This photograph was taken before it was about to bucket with rain, hence the title. It was quite a trip really, I got quite saturated, nearly ran off the road after seeing a double doodle (ok that's not as bad as it sounds and is actually a breed of dog) and also had the fun of trying to dodge the many elderly locals who were striding around the waterfront who enjoy crossing roads without looking. Anyway they do call me Alex Schumacher so this wasn't a problem.

p.s Gwyneths song cruising wasn't too bad, maybe it was Huey letting the team down.

Technically it is an amazing shot.

Nice strong contrast between the background, foreground and the subject itself. Subject is nice and sharp and in focus. Use of colours/greyscale is good.

However, i may have to agree with sun-seeker, in the fact that the subject is lacking. It does seem to be a bit of a 'shallow' picture in that it doesn't really speak to me or tell me anything about why you took the photograph, other than it was about to rain and it looked cool.

All in all, i still love it. And i am going to fav!

Ahh, but can you sing too? And whats this double doodle breed? AS to the pic.. nice idea but the boat is a bit of a bland subject i'm afraid. Kudos for going out in that weather!

hi again Alex (...or is that... Shuey? !! )

Great shot, yet again... as one has come to expect from you!

I'm curious, are you using filters, or PS for any effects?

Reason I ask is mainly selfishness ... I just got me a Grad ND filter and was hoping to try it out... but I hate miserable windy weather .. I don't mind rain, snow, sleet, heat, fire, atomic explosions...but I hate wind! (tripod issues!)
