Description
These designs are for a short story comic commission for Hothench that I am currently working on. It will focus on the adventures of his character Scarlet, and her fight against some Imperial troops. It is set in the same universe as my Senya comic book (hence the similar armour designs), but is a new and unconnected story. The main villain is an imperial officer, so I designed her outfit to be ceremonial rather then combat ready. Her guards will be doing most of the fighting!Related content

As per always, your designs are lovely. Cute, regal, stern, action-y... you express them all SO well. X 3 Even if it is for someone else, I would imagine it is still canon (or else you wouldn't have permitted it) so I'm even more eager to see what comes to pass. : 3
I'd really like to know more about the Imperials - the proper name of the Empire, the ruling class, etc. I realize it's likely already planned out in future reveals... I'm just waiting to find out! : D

Thanks! I imagined their army like the ancient Romans, vast and superior to all their subject worlds. The lower soldiers are made up of conscripts, and the officers are from the core (ruling) worlds. Within the Empire many powerful families control factions of the army (so their symbols and colours might vary slightly from one legion to another). I need to make a character sheet that shows the various ranks and unit types of the empire, then I can work out all their proper names and symbols.

Just be careful giving them a name - it IS your 'big bad' after all. ; ) Something people can remember and say usually works best, even if it doesn't capture their whole deal. But, certainly, stuff like 'the Izzrin Ed'Juithaz Royal Glory Techno-Carpathian Empire' is right out. ; D

For what my opinions worth on this one I wouldn't be too specific. I think "Imperials" works as a phrase and I like the Empire having many powerful families and factions; that creates some fun scenarios in and of itself. The Roman link also works with them being numerically and technically superior to the "barbarians" they encounter and rule over. The Imperial army would generally dominate - in fact it would be fun to see how they rule over subjected worlds. Which works most of the time! As Senya and no doubt Scarlet will prove it is unwise to be too overconfident!

Just love these designs - so many fine, fun details about how the outfits come together, the boot forms, Scarlet and her prisoner are just too cute. Can't wait to see more of this!
