Description
There were several other movies that came really close, like:Beauty and the Beast (Cause it's a classic and my fav Disney movie)
Lilo & Stitch (ONLY this one! NONE of the ones coming after it! I hate them with a passion.)
Tremors (Cause it's freakin' WIN)
And The Fifth Element (cause that black guy is my hero)
Now for random babble that you can only read if you're interested!
Watership Down
By FAR by biggest inspiration. My dad got it for me when I was about... 10-11 perhaps? Despite that he had read the book back in high school, apparently he forgot about it and got it for me "because it had cute bunnies on it".
Little Shop of Horrors
I used to watch this movie all the time when it came on TV when I was really young cause it was just that awesome. I mean, heck, it has a singing alien plant that eats people. COME ON!!
Jurassic Park
I actually like all 3 films, but the first totally owns them all. Also watched this film a lot as a kid. Not sure if this was the origin or just the fuel for my love for dinosaurs.
Major Payne
Oh my gosh... just... I love this movie. lol It comes on TV in reruns constantly to the point you want to punch someone, but I can watch it every single time and still laugh. This movie is my family's favorite. The humor in it never gets old for me!
The Plague Dogs
Discovered this film quite a few years after Watership Down. I was expecting something along the same lines, but was blown away. The plot is wonderful and the animation is just completely gorgeous for its time. And the ending is just... BAWWW!
Titanic
SHUDDUP >:U Probably one of the only romance movies I really like. Watched this movie a lot with my cousin when we were younger (though we skipped the naughty parts lol). I fondly remember us laughing at the people sliding down the ship when it was all slanted and when that guy in that one scene jumps off the ship and hits the propeller and gos spinning. We would rewind it and watch it more times to count. xD Cruel children we were.
Cloverfield
Gaaaah love this movie. I probably wouldn't have liked it nearly as much if I hadn't have been smack in the middle of its ad campaign. They had so many little hints and clues and interactive things leading up to it. Crazy times, man.
Spirited Away
Ever since ~AlfaHorsey showed it to me ages ago I just couldn't get it out of my head! Also the first film of Miyazaki's I ever saw. Animation is just fantasmicilicious!
Forrest Gump
"Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." :U HARHAR! This film has much the same with Major Payne in regards to the reruns and family favorite. It's one I just can't forget!
Jeepers Creeprs
The only horror movie I can say I really like. This film is so cheesey but I love it. Not to mention its slogan is just awesome. "What's eating you?" PFFF

...I MUST DO THIS MEME AS WELL!
Jurassic Park is totally the same for me. I freaking love all those movies and I still wonder how the heck they made the dinos so realistic - some modern movies with CG STILL pale in comparison epically. I love it and I don't think I'll ever stop loving it! I haven't seen a lot of these other ones, but I did see Plague Dogs (interesting!), the last half of Titanic (which is stunningly beautiful), Forrest Gump (love it foreveh) and Spirited Away of course. I really need to watch Titanic all the way through sometime, I saw it on TV. I love the score.

DO IT!!
Jurassic Park totally amazes me still with its CGI and puppetry/animatronics. I remember either watching a special on TV or on the DVD (can never remember) where it showed all the challenges they had to do with those things. Like the T-Rex head would start convulsing in the fake rain and stuff so they'd have to dry it out or whatever xD
Titanic is really quite a fantastic movie when you take in all the details. And its one of those classic love stories that, despite the cheesiness, really works.

When I was much younger I attempted to read Watership Down because I LOVED rabbits, but it got a little too confusing for me so I never read the whole book. I haven't seen the movie either though I want to so badly!
Jurassic park and Forrest Gump were epic, and I got teary eyed at the end of Spirited away. (Jeepers creepers was ok.)
And HOLY CRAP I didn't think I'd ever find someone who found that guy bouncing off the propeller in Titanic as hilarious as my brother and I did! We used to do the exact same thing:
*guy falls*
*boink!*
*HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!*
*rewind rinse and repeat*
As for Little shop of horrors, Major Payne, Plague dogs, and Cloverfield sadly I haven't seen any of them.

Spirited Away was a great movie. You should also see; Howl's Moving Castle (odd but cool), Valley of the Wind (cool), Princess Mononoke (demons!), and The City In the Sky (I don't remember this one much...It was interesting though).
Didn't see Ponyo yet.
Titanic made me cry, and Cloverfield...I wasn't too fond of the "from camera man" perspective. But it was okay (I was convinced the monster was Godzilla!). I've heard of Watership Down, but never watched it...

All movies of win, I approve
That is... all except Cloverfield. I really didn't like it for whatever reason... I don't know why. Probably the general lack of explanation and plot in general. I don't know, I just didn't like it
And psst... have you ever seen Felidae?

AlfaFilly In reply to xXbeebopcatXx [2010-10-13 03:33:46 +0000 UTC]
I didn't like how it was set in New York City. That theme is overdone lol
Everything else didn't bother me because I got into all the behind the scenes facts and what-not. And how the movie was through 1st person perspective and, well, if the incident was really happening we really wouldn't know much of anything either, haha.
Why is everyone mentioning that stupid cat movie?! xDD
I don't like Felidae. lol

You're tellin' me... your father doesn't live in that city! It's WAY overdone, I agree.
Be that as it may, sparse facts and behind-the-scenes specials do not a good movie make. I was upset with the lack of explanation of the monster and the general pointlessness of the movie... I mean, nothing was really accomplished in the end. Nice title, interesting premise, but an incredibly disappointing ending in which nothing cool whatsoever happens and nothing is solved. Besides, the first-person thing is only cool to watch if you're learning stuff and not watching people run around and be stupid trying to save each other, which ultimately leads them to their demise.
I know you like the movie and all, but I was pretty let down by it P:
I don't like it either XD
I was just thinking you like Watership Down and Plague Dogs, and Felidae is sort of along the same lines... and hey, I don't like Cloverfield either. You never know what people's tastes are XD

Indeed, I think that's why I said I probably wouldn't have liked it as much if I hadn't been in the ad campaign, cause that's really what got me interested. Kinda like how a dorky fan gets more appreciation from a movie when they know all the technical stuff.
But I think you're missing the point of the movie's purpose. If we were in New York and some giant monster attacked, we wouldn't know one thing from another. What the monster is, where it came from, where to go, or whatever else, everyone and everything would be in massive panic, which the movie really focused around. Frankly, I found some parts to be a bit pointless and stupid, like how the group went to rescue Beth, putting themselves in danger instead of following the police to safety, but who knows what would happen if your best friend or a family member was in danger and the police or whatever couldn't help? Of course, in reality if a giant monster was attacking I'm pretty sure a few shots at from a tank would kill it dead but I digress, it is Hollywood afterall. Things must always end in explosions and death. Mmm fire.
I just like to think "How would I react different during that same scenario?" Who knows! I'd probably act like a crazy person and get bitten by a parasite and explode. Or get stepped on by the monster lol Or both. At the same time! 8D
But yeah, I can see how you wouldn't like it. My dad hated it for the same reasons. xD

As much as I love backstories, I never get involved in campaigns or anything like that. I like to be surprised by the plot of the movie, and if it's not good enough to stand on it's own, then it's not worth looking into the special features later
And I get that they were trying to make some sort of statement about human nature, but that doesn't suddenly make the movie worth watching. Point or no point, the movie was somewhat boring and, in my opinion, a lot of effort wasted to make a fairly obvious and uninteresting point. I like realism as much as the next guy, but I like explanation more. I think it's fairly self explanatory that your average Joe would be lost given the right situation, and taking two hours of hand-camera footage, minimal monster appearances, and pointless rescue missions to tell us that seemed like a waste of time.
But then again, I'd totally die in that situation so I should probably shut up

I've also seen Jeepers Creepers, Titanic, and Spirited Away. Apparently I watched Jurassic Park all the time when I was very very little, too, but I don't remember.
hrm, there's a lot of movies here I haven't seen. I should go check 'em out.
