I MUST STRESS, YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION TO GIVE A CRITIQUE! JUST DO IT IN THE COMMENTS!K, so firstly, this is *TheDarkestPrince 's second character for Power of War. He'll be Sephar's bifflecake.
And despite his dark color scheme he isn't evil. BOOYAH GENERIC WOLF COMICS. I mean--
His colors and pattern may change depending on Vex's opinion, but basically I really just want some critiques on anatomy. Io is a Hyena-like creature from my world. Though he doesn't necessarily need to look 100% like a hyena, I want the anatomy to be close enough to the point one can look at him and think "Hey, he kinda looks like a hyena." rather than "Oh, he looks like a big piece of poo."
Right now I kinda think he looks like a giraffe dog weasel cat pikachu-er thing.
And sorry for the awkward positioning of his legs. He kinda looks like he's about to pee or something, haha.
Tell me if you think he looks too much like Lion King in any way. I did not base him off those hyenas. I used a photo reference.

I dont really know the anatomy for these guys but I think you might need to do less fur on the ears. Great job on gettin that stocky look but i believe the legs need to be a bit longer. Id love to offer more but then i'd just be pullin stuff from no where XD

I thought he was a hyena as soon as I saw the thumbnail, but since you requested critique I thought I'd try and help. I'm not very good at explaining with words, so I thought I'd just do some redlines lol (hope you don't mind):

I used many references on google and noticed how their thighs are lower to the ground, their ears are actually rather thick and round, the line of their backs don't actually give hints to shoulders and hips, (it's just a slope), and their muzzles are very small and almost pointy.
Some of these things may be different according to your style. Oh and I didn't even think of TLK until you put it in the comment lol!

I think you did very well with the anatomy, any details that might be off aren't noticeable, cause I can't spot them.

I think it's a good thing that you have made Io's neck much bolder and stronger than normal dogs - the hyenas have the sort of hunchback of notre dame-aura in them :3 Also the ears are slightly more round, which is good, and all in all, when we take notice of the colouring and all, he sure does look like a hyena n.n
- Just that I think that all canines have four toes :3

Very beautiful! It looks great, apart from its hi-bone being a bit prominent in an otherwise well-fed body. I think those only show up in starving animals, but it might just be the fact that your aking him a species that has prominent hip-bones. XD.

Here are some pointers:
- make the muzzle a bit thinner
- make the ears more round and broad
- definitely make his head smaller, hyenas are still stocky, though
- most pictures of hyenas I've seen are mot as muscular as he is, but I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be
The legs are pretty much perfect!

Second, STOP YELLING! I know I can give critiques in the comments. Not everyone does, granted, but I digress. This also brings me to my next point...
I don't want to say he looks like Shenzi from TLK, but...
yeah.
Don't get me wrong; he's a well done hyena and I'm a fan of those markings, (especially the left-front paw) but he does look a bit too much like a certain Di$ney film char.
I also realize that I suck at critique. Especially in areas where I'm to talk.

Though actually I didn't really think so. But I instantly think "Lion King" in general when I think Hyena because I have stickers of the TLK Hyenas on my dresser (from when I was a little kid lol) which I find kinda sad.

If you want to make him more hyena-ish, make his nose rounder/smaller and round off his ears as well. The ears are more like that of a bears and the nose isn't all that sharp. Right now he's looking a bit too much like a dog, (Hyena's aren't canines, they belong to the same family as meerkats and mongooses). Try making his proportions a bit more bear like as well, they share some similar qualities with bears due to having similar gaits.
The hump of muscle above the shoulders, the sloping back, and the forelegs being longer than the hindlegs are all correct however.

I think the face looks a bit too wolfish; hyena's have a thicker, shorter muzzle, and their head domes much closer. It's shouldn't be as high as it is in the picture. Here's some good pictures for the face: [link]

But overall, it's a hyena. It's recognizably a hyena, you don't have to look and say "Oh yeah, now I see it". The anatomy is very well met, although I think their hind quarters slope down more.
I like the choice in colors, although maybe you could darken the white a little more? It's very nice to see that's it not white-out white though.

That's good at least. I actually find it funny that it looks wolf-ish considering I fail totally hard-core at wolves.

That might look good, though. I sort-of felt that it looked a bit awkward being as bright in contrast to the rest as it was.

Not bad! Hyenas are very hard to draw. They're not really cats and not really dogs, so it's hard to make a perfect balance of characteristics for these guys. But I could tell that this was a hyena (or, rather, a hyena-like creature) immediately!
The only thing that I might suggest is making the ears wider, rounder, and set lower on the head. The forehead looks a tad bit low, too, but it just might be because of the "haircut." The legs look pretty good. I think you got the "slouchy" anatomy down pretty well without making it too cartoonish like in the Lion King.
