Description
Procedures not unusual for independent travellers are the close checks from many authorities, operating around different locations. Those can range from the different forms of local or government law enforcement, to straight military controls. There are also many dominions spread over the occupied galaxy that don't subject themselves to any of the three main factions, but wich in some cases are able to enforce "de facto" rules or command. Here depicted are a pair of SK-215 (Associate Empire) escortingΒ presumably a visting trader, probably on protocol chat and checks while deciding if the ship should be put in line awaiting for a more thorough scan to be performed by the Security Platform Station.
-------------------
This is kind of the first time I texture a 3d model in a way that I can call almost succesfull in the case of the aforementioned SK-215. It was modeled in Blender and textured with 3DCoat Textura (wich I recommend, it has a 30 day trial for free option if you'd like to try).
The independent transport ship, besides being in some others of my Hunters illustrations, for this one comes from a less succesful attempt at texturing a 3D model, made more than a year ago. Also modeled in Blender, but textured with QuixelMixer (wich is -or was at least when I got it- totally free, so why not recommend that one too). There are many things not right about it, so what you see in this image has actually a lot of paint over done in photoshop.
The whole scene was set up and rendered in Blender, but has a lot of work done after in photoshop. Only tiny corrections done on the SK-215, just to "fix" some details that are not perfect on the 3d model and texture. Mainly the cabin, wich is not transparent and has nothing in it on the model.
The planet was originaly textured with the Sanctus-Library addon for Blender , but very little of it can be seen after all the paint over done later. The moon also used a texture from the same addon, and was touched up later only a bit.
Here you can see how the bare 3d render looked like. before all the post work done in photoshop.
And if out of curiosity you would like to see more from Hunters on Blog form you can go here.
Hope you like it!
