Description
Central India, 5 million years into the future. In a clearing in the middle of the monsoon forests, several herbivores gather to forage on the lush grasses, shrubs and trees. In the background, a giraffox (Giraffobos cameloryx), a giant relative of the nilghai, is about to browse on the leaves of a tall tree, with a group of hanumandrils (Dravidopithecus pictus) under it. These monkeys, descendants of the rhesus macaque, are picking up the fallen nuts and leaves that the giraffox drops while browsing. Nearby, an ivory billed stork (Osteorhynchus longipes) walks across the tall grasses in search of small prey. In the foreground, three panicked tufted muskelopes (Indomeryx cristatus), duiker-like ungulates evolved from chevrotains, try to scape from a hungry servalynx (Indofelis longipes) jumping from the bushes, while a couple of male muntiaxis (Cervitragus indicus), a type of large-sized muntjac deer, observe the scene while grazing, a few metres away.
