The base finish on the aircraft is ADC Grey and not supposed to be silver, yes?

Yes, it was Grey. So far I know, only in the very early time of their usage they were in Metal. Somewhere during their usage they were painted in Grey.

Cheers; You're correct that they were originally natural metal, and later painted ADC Grey (it's a distinct shade in FS-595a) before they were transferred up to Alaska.
