Description
Having a tendency to jump from project to project, I decided to try to finish things I've started and work back down to my picture book that I've put off long enough. This set here is from my alien brainstorm doodles. I've made several iterations of them then picked the four I liked the best and colored them. I'll try to summarize each of them.

Top left is a Xenopteran (the only one I've named from this set). They are a highly advanced yet aggressive ant-like species whose technology is indistinguishable from their own biology. Like some ant species, they are polymorphic with members having varying sizes and shapes based on their caste. As a species, the Xenoterans have a strong drive to expand and converting other planets into their "hive worlds" sparing only the species that prove useful to them.

Top right are a species who inhabit a world that's located on the further end of it's star's habitable zone and also has more geological activity resulting in more mountainous terrain. Their six limbs ending in chitin-encased digits helps them transverse the hazardous mountains of their world and they evolved a slower metabolism due to their cold environment and relative scarcity of food. As a result, they live relatively long lives and tend to speak slower. They breath a different atmosphere than life on earth so whenever off planet they wear masks attached to respirator packs on their backs.

Bottom left is an almost avian species that also inhabits a colder world, though one with slightly less gravity than earth. Though their limb arrangement is their most evident characteristic, their most unique biological feature is their head. What appears to be a beak is actually a hardened cover that protects a singular large eye with their actual mouth being located on their chest in the form of an extendable proboscis.

Lastly at the bottom right is a ray-like flyer that inhabits a water world. Almost entirely airborne, they use their split tails as hands for manipulating their environment with the legs located on their stomachs used to grab additional objects but being mostly rudimentary. To aid in lift, these flyers have external gas bladders on either side of their head. These bladders also double as eardrums that pickup sound vibrations in the air.

These designs are subject to change though I've pretty content with them at the moment.
