Description This is the first official segment of my Centauri project.  This segment focuses on the rainforest canopies of Alpha Centauri Ab.

Frame Tree: the dominate plant life of Alpha Centauri Ab, their intersecting trunks, branches and leaves gives them support against the planet's 2g environment.  This allows them to tower several stories above the ground.

Creeping Vine: This plant takes advantage of the Frame trees' structure by climbing up their network for a closer position to the sun.  Along with perpetually wrapping itself around the trees' trunks and branches, the Creeping Vine maintain it's hold with claw-like branches that grow interchangeably with it's leaves.  It's sense of gravity helps it determine when to develop hanging structures for depositing fruit.

Quadralocus:  These small, four winged arthropods are the most abundant animals in the canopy and the stable of their environment's food chain.  Their coloration helps them avoid predators by blending them in with the leaves on which they feed on.  If spotted, they use their grasshopper-like legs to propel them at great speeds before flying to safety.  Along with four eyes around their mouthes, Quadralocus evolved a special fifth eye on the top of their bodies to watch out for predators while feeding.

Interesting organisms. The creeping vines look a bit like lizard-like or salamander-like creatures clinging to the trees. A rather unusual and intriguing effect.

I also like how you can see the two other stars of the Centauri system appearing as two suns in the sky.
