Here’s another set of alien concepts for my Don Bluth inspired story “Galune”. Like last time, the main character Agatha stands at 1.7m for a sense of scale, and each of the aliens resemble mythical creatures while keeping some biological plausibility in mind.

Starting at the top left is a Harpy. You may notice it shares similar features to three other aliens in this set. That’s because they all belong to the same species with an insect-like caste system where the various castes resemble different creatures from Greek mythology. The winged Harpy, for instance, is used for espionage and some aerial support in combat. To its right is a Mermaid. Instead of being fish-like or dolphin-like as similar creatures are usually designed, this alien Mermaid is inspired by sea slugs and marine flatworms. They breathe in water via hair-like gills on their heads and thru their skin when on land, have poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell thanks to head tendrils, and are hermaphroditic like real world sea slugs are. The left of Agatha is a Vanara. Vanara are a monkey-like race from Hindu mythology. While this species resembles monkeys in appearance and arboreal ability, it's actually more akin to amphibians. Right below it is a Saytr, a caste of the Greek mythos aliens that acts as servants and diplomats. To its left is a Quetzalcoatl. Evolving from Dromaeosarid ancestors, it uses its powerful tail for locomotion thus freeing up its hind limbs to use as an extra pair of hands. To the left of it is a Centaur. This caste of the Greek mythos aliens act as common soldiers with middle and hind limbs designed for fast running. Finally, at the far right is the Minotaur. The largest caste of the Greek Mythos aliens (aside from the unshorn queen), the Minotaurs act as bodyguards and are the muscle on battlefield who are able to tank significant damage.
