Description This one’s a little rushed compared to my previous two sketches regarding the Tech Humans (still need to think of a more interesting name), but I’ve just fallen in love with this concept and wanted to expand on them more.

When I’ve talked about the tech humans before, I’ve mentioned how they’ve created tension with the rest of humanity.  The most significant sources of this tension was effectively stealing the dwarf planet Ceres, the most abundant source of water in the inner solar system aside from earth, and covering it into a massive space ship.  Ceres was specifically chosen not only for its resources and relatively closeness, but also its size.  Their aim was to create a ship that would cause time dilatation, resulting the individuals inside to experience a shorter amount of time passing than anyone outside.  For example, traveling a 50% the speed of light, thanks to nuclear propulsion, the ship would take approximately 9 years to get to Proxima Centauri while it will only feel like 10 month for the Tech Humans inside.  This concept is explained more here at the 8:42 mark: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA66ah…

The ship reflects the Tech Humans obsession with radial symmetry, being able to move and defend itself in all directions.  This is also reflected in the fighter drones they’ve created to ward off any attackers (bottom center).  Instead of piloting these drones themselves, the Tech Humans control them remotely, knowing their numbers are too small to risk casualties.  Inside of the ship are vast farms of various microorganism cultures to act as the source nutrients for their still organic brains (bottom left).  If any microorganisms are discovered on Ceres itself, the Tech Humans would find a way to utilize them as well.  Though some tasks require them to be mobile, a number of them can be achieve by simply plugging themselves into the ship itself while simultaneously replenishing the energy stores of their artificial bodies (bottom right).

Here are two details I’d like to point out.  One is that though the Tech Humans can “see” in all directions, areas of their bodies darken to indicate the main direction of their attention, giving a sort of eyeball appearance.  The other is that along with radial symmetry, the Tech Humans are fond of complexity and difficulty as a test of their intelligence.  Because of this, they adopted languages that are the most difficult to learn such as Mandarin Chinese as shown above the bottom right.  In time, they will probably invent their own unique language that is more complex than what exists currently.

As always comments and critiques are welcome
