Description
This piece features a female version of Cmdr. Shepard from the video game series Mass Effect, along with Lt. James Vega from Mass Effect 3.The first time I saw this guy in a screenshot with his tight t-shirt and bulging muscles, I laughed. I laughed because I thought he was such a huge and overused clichΓ©, one that we've seen and still see regularly in video games: the beefcake Marine. Well, the fact is that Bioware managed to make James into a lot more than that. And I totally fell for him because he is just so loveable, funny and simply awesome.
But you know what? Even though Bioware threw us some really funny and flirty dialogue between female Shepard and James, they still didn't make him a potential love interest. Why, Bioware, WHY?!
Thankfully though, we still have fanart and fiction to fall back on. 
This piece was made using XNALara and A LOT of retouching in Photoshop CS6. I gotta say, I think it's my best 3D work so far.

To be honest with you, I've never given that ship much thought except for the fact that after learning that Miranda was behind Jacob's discovery of his father's ship, I always brought them along on each other's loyalty mission because of what I saw as a nice friendship. It didn't seem to me like they had actually been in a relationship because I remember Jacob mentioning something about Miranda being out his league...
And for me, the problem with Jacob has been about the way he left Femshep after you romanced him, and just got involved with someone else (and got her pregnant!!!). I don't know why but it's hard for me to detach myself from that part of the canon...
How about you? Do you see Jacob and Miranda together?

I cannot stand either of them, to be honest. In one of the comics, they are a couple and Jacob mentions being Miri's ex as well. He adds at the same time that she deserves someone better than him. I can totally see them together since they are both kinda assholes to me and remind me of Seal and Heidi Klum on top of that. Haha.

LOL! The only ME comics I've read so far is the one where Liara goes on a quest to retrieve Shepard's body so I didn't know about that relationship between Jacob and Miranda. And I hope you don't mind my asking but if you despise Miranda, how come you did those beautiful mesh mods of her?

Well, that's hard to explain. I do really think she is Jack's one true love and in that combination I can stand her for some special reason. Also, if she is a blonde, I can magically stand her as well, since it gives her an overall different feel. I'm a bit grumpy about her and also Bethany Hawke's first design which depicts BOTH as blondes. Cause there is a real lack of blonde women in Draogn Age and Mass Effect and all blondes were turned into black-haired ones in the end which seems a bit misoblondistic to me? I like blonde girls, so it really bothered me they made her a bitch AND black-haired. Her attitude would have worked as a blonde, but the current combination just pisses me off. Also, I don#t like the facemodel at all. She's a turnoff as Heidi Klum is to me. Ah. Sorry, I'm getting emotional when annoyed about characters.

I think the reason why they didn't Β keep Miranda as a blonde probably has to do with the fact that blondes are still getting a bad wrap, perpetuated by a lousy stereotype which unfortunately seems to stick around like a bad flu. The myth of the blonde bimbo and the sassy, intelligent brunette still stands and I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware rooted their choice in that silly ideology (not necessarily theirs, but the public in general).
Ah. Sorry, I'm getting emotional when annoyed about characters.
Don't you worry, I could easily do the same about Javik... The only reason I recruited him again this time is because I wanted to go back to Eden Prime to get some nice background screenshots. Next time the mission appears on the Galaxy Map though, I'm going to let him stay there to rot. Eternally.Β Β

You're the first person to make that comment about the emotional aspect of this picture and I really appreciate it because I didn't want this piece to be strictly sexy and/or erotic. I was actually hoping it would convey and illustrate some kind of emotional bond between the two characters, which is not an easy thing to do with those 3D models.

Thank you! Did you see the new DLC screenshot that Bioware issued where we see Shepard having a drink with a few people somewhere on the Citadel? It's so funny because the first time I saw this image, I noticed a really good-looking man standing near the couch where Sheppard is sitting and I was like: "Who is this babe?... oh wait... OMG, it's James!!!"
I didn't even recognize him at first because he seems to be wearing some kind of formal jacket - which is something that's never happened before. And when I read later that Bioware is going to include some romance in the DLC, I thought: "Why would they dress up James in that manner if not to help him seduce Femshep?! I mean, think about it... I could be totally wrong but that screenshot gave me a little hope.

The voice actor for Vega (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) is actually married to Sarah Michelle Prinze nee Gellar (aka Buffy). He seems like a pretty cool guy so I doubt it'd be something he'd shy away from if it had been an option. We may never know the real story, but I prefer to place the blame on Bioware's writers.
