Description
One of my favorite scenes from the book The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Ivan is in his room, suffering from hallucinations induced by guilt and brain fever. Suddenly he sees a familiar figure sitting on the sofa: the Devil who appears in the guise of a 'poor relative'. Despite trying to ignore him, Ivan continuously snaps at the Devil and eventually starts shouting and arguing with him.Related content

I like this. It's more grounded and subdued than your usual work, with an almost Jamesian atmosphere.

Thanks! I haven't read anything from him, so I'm unfortunately not familiar with a Jamesian atmosphere. Any recommendations?
Have you read any Dostoevsky? I started with Crime and Punishment a few yeas ago and was very inspired by the psychological aspects.

I mean M. R. James, father of the antiquarian ghost story. His short stories Number 13 and Oh Whistle And I'll Come To You, my Lad are public domain tales in his first book, Ghost Stories of an Antiquary. I could give you a link to written or audio.
I'm not big on classic Russian novels. >.>

Cool, please send a link to either.
As for Russian classics, I'm not a big fan of them generally, but Dostoevsky is alright. At least if you read one novel from him every couple of years.
