Description
I learned to paint simply by looking. If your wondering what happens in my head on each of the panels. Nothing ! I'm listening to my music. I hear this a lot from one of my favorite artists who say "When you paint, let go everything you know about painting". It took me a while to fully understand what they meant."Blind energy" is a good thing. When one begins to paint, everything you know should disappear and the emotional side should take over." Jeanean Songco Martin
I really didn't feel like covering my process with useless information to make this a proper tutorial. It's not what goes on inside my head. I simply paint what I see, not what I know.
Guidelines, ideal proportions and premade compositions that they teach us in our art school they become more a distraction for an artist. If you can let that go maybe this tutorial might not be so useless after all
Oil on canvas, 30" by 24"
Took me 3 days.
If you have any questions let me know I'll be happy to explain.

Love your work. It's so delicate and very much like watercolor. I recently switched from watercolor to oil.

You are an amazing artist. How do you see the colors so accurately?

is it ok to overlay colors? i'm afraid it may damage the original color.

I'm not sure that you want a reply from someone else, but yes I think it is ok. Especially with oils, anyway.

Could you create something similar focusing primarily on the portrait, face and skin rather then the skirt would be really useful

Hi! Your art is so amazing, I feel so many emotions when I look at your paintings. It's my dream since always to draw like you. I have a lot of questions! For example do you prepare something before drawing oils? I mean like drawing sketches, drawings made by pen, or do you just take oils, sit and began to paint?
I was always wondering how to start and how to not mess up with colours, I am using oils and copying great masters (Vermeer is my favourite) to learn how to use shadow to get dimensional, realistic painting. Do you draw "Alla prima" or you are also sometimes using classic technique ? Which style do you prefer? And most important question, are you using something before painting with oils on canvas? And when you finish your painting also?f.e. varnish it after how long period of time? Do you recommend grayscale technique as here [link] So sorry for so many questions but I am willing to learn, I hope you will find time to reply, thank you in advance and My best Regards
*and sorry for my broken english

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing,
btw most of my works and ideas come from just listening to music, I feel it helps inspiration to just flow forth.

Reminds me of richard schmid's process. Seems really similar to what he describes in his book, alla prima. Either way, I love your stuff

Amazing! I'm using oils now and this is so inspirational. Was the reference a stock image you used or a photo you took yourself?

Man, you are amazing!
I notice your pencil lines are either extremely light or not even there. I can barely comprehend how you get such perfectly rendered figures with hardly any lines to guide you.

I have a question regarding medium. Did you use Liquin or did you make your own mix? I'm trying out oil painting, and I was wondering at the differences.

Uhm I have a question. I'm not saying that painting has to be done one way, because everyone has their own style which makes the artwork distinct and original. But I heard some people say that you should start painting with the background? I don't know why. Is that easier? Or is painting the foreground first easier? Or is it just a matter of preference?
