Iconic characters, need to be introduced?

A day like yesterday, but 62 years ago, (September 19, 1939), a wonderful character came into light to be known by a lot of comic readers that may not have imagined how this hero would create a legend of his own... neither did his creators, I'm sure, at least tyhe could not have pictured how big this character's come to be by now, after so many years, still loved, still feared, still idolized.
