I know, I know. Title sucks.Sort of preliminary sketch for one of my RSBB fics. Remus Lupin in one of those Sailor Boy type of clothes, although really, he's supposed to look like the Little Prince. XD
Acrylic on Bristol. :/

Haha, thanks! I wanted to do this for so long--maybe draw the Marauders in those sailor type uniforms little boys wear? I guess I have to settle for Moony for now. But I'm going to draw the rest later!

And thanks! I love drawing clothes, and usually I end up with trousers and jumpers with R/S, I have to shake things up a bit.

I'm having little tantrrums all over the place. I've finally started my pictures and i keep redoing them over and over and over haha.
I'm so horribly concious about making them something that will do the fic justice, you know-

Hee, I knew at once when I read that part in the fic, where Remus cries while the class is reading The Little Prince, that I was going to illustrate it.
And this feeling, I know it so well. I've killed a sketch pad while trying to 'catch' that atmosphere I wanted for the fic, tearing sketch pages out and crumpling them (it feels so good doing that to ugly sketches). Idk, none of my sketches work somehow, and I'm getting more and more cranky. Ugh.

yeah i know, i've had like five different pictures on the brain but everytime i draw them they just don't come out right.
I hate that, when it looks so good in your head but rubbish on paper... I managed to get one one today that i was happy with, so now i feel more optimistic about it
My biggest challenge is that the fic I chose mainly has them as adults and damn if i can draw that- I'm doing my best but drawing middle aged men is HARD.
I mostly focus on the hogwarts years because that is what i feel comfortable with, so it's kind of a nice (if frustrating) challenge to illustrate a fic which puts me out of that comfort zone.
My rant is now officially over haha.

I think I'm safe until the First War. Anything older than that would be a big pain. D: I rarely ever draw anything from the Grimmauld Place era. It's just too scary!
I guess that's what I'm worried about, too, being out of my comfort zone. I'm doing illustrations for two fics, and one of them has the boys drunk and doing drugs and the lot. Just RIGHT in my comfort zone, haha. But the other one, they're more manly somehow and camp-ish at the same time. I have no idea what to make the illustrations look like. Now I'm getting scared.

there's so much ANGST i really feel the need to just go away and draw something fluffy for a while but I don't have the time...
Real life does get in the way
That's the other thing that worries me- I just CAN'T draw manly men. But then i can't picture either of them as that either... The author for mine wrote Remus with having long hair so I'm sort of mucking around and doing my best with it. He looks so girly really easily in my style..

I think for one fic I'm going to have to draw a lot of naked boys. Oh, lol. I probably won't colour them, it's too embarrassing. Though by now, I'm just hoping I can get to actually drawing something. Boo, real life! :C (And boo, acrylic! I don't get it, and I never did. I wonder why I even tried.)
I remember the first time I drew for a BigBang, and I had to draw Sirius with short spiky RED hair. It was a fiasco. I don't know if what I drew resembled him in any way.
But I don't think your Remus would look too girly. He can't be possibly girlier than mine, and I draw him with long hair, too.

I don't know whether drawing skin or fabric is harder. Fabric because of folds and thinking about the way material sits (i am seriously lazy with this) but then skin isn't easy either.
I guess you need to have a really definate design for your characters to pull off that kind of thing. I'm sure that you'd do well at it since your Sirius and Remus are very constant. My sirius is a changeable best though... As long as i don't have to give HIM funny hair I'm pretty sure I'm okay

Ack, I know about fabric. Most of the time I just do random lines and hope people forgive me because it's all stylised anyway. XD
Haha, I guess it all falls down to Sirius having black hair and Remus, brown. No one can contest that! XD
On the other hand, I'm worried because in the movies, it's Sirius who has curly hair and Remus has short, straight hair. A lot of writers think of their looks with regards to the movies, so I'm afraid my idea of what they look like might not match the writer's idea... ugh.

I have to be honest. I am feeling a little bit like DEAL WITH IT. If they want Remus to have long hair, fine, but it's at least going to be curly.

I think usually my illustrations for bigbangs never actually 'look' like the way they are described in the fics. I rely more on what I remember of the scene, and because of my ageing, sieve-like brain, all sorts of weird things happen (wrong colour of clothes etc). XD It's really a different animal, illustrations.

Eeeeh, I'm glad you liked him! I think I'm going to have to draw backgrounds for that scene, but I can't not draw Remus crying while the class is reading the Little Prince. It's just too precious.
I actually don't know where Remus's expression came from here, he looks melancholy and peaky! XD
