Description
Oil painting. 24'' x 36''. Hours taken...Many. @____@I won't lie, I end up hating most of my work after a ~4 month honeymoon period but I did this in January and am still really happy with it.
Reference , drawn from sight.

It's so graceful and sort of... melancholic? Sad, in a peaceful sort of way. Very well done. ย

Thank you! That's precisely what I was going for. I love the beauty in sad or macabre moments, and vice versa.

Yes... a little mixing of life, to let things be poignant and not just horrible sometimes... It can be therapeutic in its own way I think. ย

Aha I regret to say that the owl is dead. Cause unknown. Drunken brawl definitely possible.
Thanks!

Thank you! It's probably my favorite medium - unfortunately I don't get to use it often as it involves so much prep and my workspace doesn't have good ventilation. Boo.

Aha I wish someone would do that too! I love oil paintings but I rarely get to do them as people underestimate how much it costs. I'm hoping to start up a personal one in the coming months though.

You're quite welcome! It is deserved! I just can't believe you got a four month honeymoon.... HOW lol, Lucky you, to find the right man and then get that time! Almost more amazing than your art haha.

Alithographica In reply to LloydKilgorin [2016-09-04 20:23:17 +0000 UTC]
Aha oh no, that wasn't referring to a real honeymoon! "Honeymoon period" is just the phrase some people use to refer to the happy period after you're done creating something and are still happy with it. Usually I draw something, am happy with it for a few weeks or months, and then I dislike it - because I've developed in the time that has passed and now feel I can do better.

Oi, I so know that feeling. As an old Novelist I had to revise over and over. Nothing ever seemed too good. Perhaps that's why I gave it up for a time, will go back when I get the time and funds to complete the over a decade book. Eat your heart out George Lucas! lol. Took him a decade to create Star Wars.

Ahaha, George RR Martin is the one to beat. I think we're on two decades of A Song of Ice and Fire now.
