Oil painting. 24'' x 36''. Hours taken...Many. @____@I won't lie, I end up hating most of my work after a ~4 month honeymoon period but I did this in January and am still really happy with it.

Nah, I totally know the feeling - I used to hold myself back from certain art projects because I felt my technical skill wasn't there yet. I'm trying to get myself out of that habit though - no way to get there but to work!

Uhh...Hard to say, really. I did a single grayscale oil painting about 6 years ago, that was my first encounter with oils. 4 years ago I did about 3 rough paintings of models in a month-long class. This past semester I took an oils class, this owl was the first piece for that class.
I've done a few paintings in other mediums (watercolor, digital, etc) but until recently most of my practice has been in dry traditional media.
