Coral is a weird, weird animal. Starts its life free-floating individual, then becomes a sedentary colony. They hunt, but are also reliant on a mutualistic relationship with an algae.

So cool! But why do corals expel their symbiotic algae if it makes them weaker and puts them at great risk of dying? The behaviour seems very strange from an evolutionary perspective.
