Description
The quadripanticum is a sessile unicellular predator that attaches itself to a piece of substrate. Its body responds to changing pressures in its surrounding medium to detect its prey. The quadripanticum using suction, swallows its prey into one of its four mouths. Prey is digested inside of a singular stomach where enzymes breakdown itβs organic molecules to fuel the cell. The quadripanticum is distantly related to telmatonectes, descending from a four chambered ancestor. The quadripanticum spends the majority of its life attached to the substrate but during asexual reproduction it will detach and split the body apart. Both halves will swim away as separate organisms and sprout two extra mouths. The multiple mouths are to increase intake of food into the main cavity.ΒRelated content
