I'm just wondering, about 44's fear of white coats:
if there was a character who is white-furred, white-feather, or simply the color of ivory,
would he be afraid of them, or is it just people who WEAR white coats in general?

Last winter, there was a book I checked out from the library, where the story was situated in the coldest part of New York up north.

Well its getting pretty low, luckily there hasn't been too bad for snow fall. I hate it when the roads get bad. Hopefully its warmer where you are then here. and its awesome that a book is so well written you can feel the enviroment in the story! even if it does make you cold XD.

I definitely want my Jack to be a jerk, cus it's kinda obvious in the folk-lore. Breathing blue and white fire into peoples faces definitely isn't a nice thing to do.

My Jack has six rows of razor-sharp, shark-like teeth. He is a Devourer Demon who not only eats human beings but absorbs their souls. He can transform his hands into large, black, mechanical claws (very Steampunk) and his pupils glow yellow, surrounded by black when he gets hungry.
And he can't control himself when he gets hungry.
Otherwise, he's a gentleman...

No, the OC I thought looked rather like that mysterious fellow in the alley was Vian Dottoman. Same top hat, same general build, same glowy eyes, (though the piece I saw him in was B&W, so who knows if they glow red or some other color.)
Loved your art, btw. Great drawings of Erik - well, of ALL the characters so far, but I liked Erik best.
I don't suppose you know the Persian doesn't wear a fez, but an Astrakhan cap? Not that I would expect you to change it at this late date, but maybe for future projects.

The Persian DOES wear a hat - an Astrakhan cap. If you google "astrakhan cap" (include the quotes) then click on "images" up at the top of the screen, you'll get LOTS of pics. There's one photo - black and white and old looking - that could very well have been the type the Persian wore (at least in the 1924 movie.) It's kind of, sort of like a fez, but it's cylindrical rather than tapered, there's no tassel, and it's made of lambskin/wool rather than . . . whatever fezzes are made of. Felt? And, of course, grey or black rather than red.
The source of Astrakhan caps is quite interesting with regard to PotO. Astrakhan is a city in Russia which is fairly close to the northwestern shore of the Caspian Sea - 200 miles or less, if I remember right. Persia - modern day Iran - is on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea. In fact, the northern most section of Mazandaran Province ("The Rosy Hours of Mazanderan") is right on the shore.
Anyway, there would have been (and probably still is) trade amongst all the countries and communities which bordered the Caspian Sea, and a blending of fashions and goods used.
Who says one can't learn a thing or two by reading the classics?
