Description
The Critic is a show that mixes up stories and comedy close to each other nearly every single time, what a surprise when the final execution ended up working just great! When it comes to jokes, this show is all hilarious, from the jabs at movie’s genres and cliches to simple exaggeration of characters’ traits(mainly the whole view of general public over TV critics) a lot of shows like Family Guy failed at spawn this sort of humor naturally, buy here it’s always has good placement and timing without overstaying its welcome. But with balancing strong comedy, the storytelling also keeps at being mature, and, despite show’s regular over the top humor, down to the earth. I especially admire Dr. Jay for turning a very tiring and broken "you have to live 24 hours" plot into actually a good one, thanks for letting overall time being more than 24 hours and having natural resolution rather than L O L it was all a fake suck the dick. Admittedly, S2 did lose some steam when it comes to the stories by focusing on a new added character, they aren’t exactly bad, but feels more safe and simpler in comparison. But thankfully even some of the worst episodes of the show still had to show a remarkable amount of good jokes to, while not entirely covering up lame plots, at least making me not minding their existence.
This show is one of the few cases where I could recommend it to everyone, thanks to being this consistent with it’s joyful sense of humor and flavor in the script. Occasionally episodes can be bland when it comes to the plots, but even they had something to offer, making them easy to sit though no matter what. It’s finale being a simple Clipshow does leave an empty feeling though, but what can I do about that anyway...
