Description
Synesthesia - the subject's mind will merge two senses together, often causing actions such as smelling colors, tasting textures, and (the most popular) seeing music. Other cases include assigning personalities to different numbers, seasons, or months.Portfolio theme: Using color and form to display a variety of mental disorders.

BAM. Stained glass. At least, that's what I was aiming for anyway... The coloring of this picture was the easiest part. It was the hours of figuring out the right balance of the 13 or so layers of textures to get that effect.

I've associated genders to numbers and sometimes even letters from a young age; I'm not sure if it's Synesthesia or just an overactive imagination. For example, 1,3, 6, 7 and 9 are boys and 2, 4, 5, and 8 are girls; for some reason odd numbers are generally boys and even numbers are generally girls, don't know why. Apparently, people with Synesthesia and generally more creative and artistic.

Let me tell you, I think you hit this spot on.
I have had forms ofΒ Synesthesia from a young age, related to hearing and touch. I've always had trouble describing my 'disorder' (I actually see it as a gift of sorts, seeing music can be beautiful though odd) but this is an amazing look of what it does really feel like.Β

although this may be seen as sad, I see this disorder as quite artistic

This was actually the first one I found, because I was searching for synesthesia pictures on deviantArt (I had just finished talking to someone with it, and was inspired to look for art). I thought it really captured the mood, though apparently it can be frustrating. This image really seems to focus on the positive, which is a huge standout from the other ones in the series.
I liked how her bright hair became the coloured music, and slowly faded to reveal the letters. Nice touch.

After reading this, I had to go search that just to see what came up! XD
I noticed a while into this series that they were all very gloomy and dark, so I really wanted to break the trend a bit. This was my first bit of color in the group, so I really wanted it to stand out.

It's probably my favorite one, just because of the colors.

I love the emotion behind this picture, whether intentional or not. Most people think of a disease as an ugly thing where the person is sad, depressed or mad. The subject here seems very happy, riding on a wave of staff
Wonderful, as all your work is

I think, if I had to have a disorder, I would choose this one. I'm just fascinated by the thought of watching a song, or something to that effect. I know of a couple artists with prosopagnosia, and they don't seem to be hindered by it at all. It's part of their lifestyle, and if it were somehow "fixed", I feel like they would feel as if they had lost one of their senses.

Yeah. My problem would be that I 'm a musician, and that wouldn't work too well for me xD

I'm rather partial to this one as well. ^^
Actually, that was on my original list. I ended up not using it just because I only had 12 spaces, plus I didn't feel like I could make a picture that fit with the rest. But, now that I'm not restricted by the AP board submission rules, I may actually decide to go back and add some more. ^^
