His duty was to insure time and history flows "as it should be" and would not cause the end of the time line or effect any other. Taronos exists and is able to see multiple time lines, events, and future events. He he wanted to, he can talk to himself as long as it doesn't cause a paradox. He watches over realm of time known as Chronopols: The Halls of Time. Ensuring everything goes right with maybe a few bumps here and there, but it's best not to question it... or you will go insane.
