Description
Presley sighed as the trailer came to a stop. Days of traveling, with 3 male horses no less, was tiring. She swung open the truck door to be greeted by the slight waft of the ocean. The wave crashed slowly in the distance.
This was the right decision, she thought to herself. Although put under intense interrogation by her family, Presley had purchased a stable in Jorvik. Thousands of miles away from Texas. Thousands of miles away from her home.
She soaked in the salty air for another moment before walking toward the barn. It was magnificent. The pillars on each side stood menacingly, as though tempting her to dare to try to intrude. She pulled the keys from her pocket and slowly opened the barn door. The familiar barn smell rammed into her nostrils. And weirdly, it relaxed her.
The stallions begin to become frustrated waiting to see their new home, as they nicker in the trailer in protest. Presley walked quickly to the individual paddocks where the horses would go for the night. Although well behaved as they were, these stallions were amazing at finding holes in fencing and needed a secure area. After walking the perimeter and checking the locks, Presley felt confident that there would be no escapees tonight.
Birdie was the first one to back out of the trailer. He stuck his nose in the air for a moment and perked his ears. Birdie had never been this close to the water and hearing it so close made him pause for a moment. Alas, the laid-back and somewhat exhausted gelding quickly put his head down and followed Presley to his paddock. He rolled in the lush green grass, something he so desperately missed when staying in Texas.
The next horse, Dog, pranced in the trailer awaiting Presley to return to unload him. Being the only gelding stuck between two stallions had exhausted Dog. He slowly backed off the trailer and looked around. A seagull flew overhead causing him to jump. Presley gasped as the 17.1hh gelding backed away quickly, looking toward the sky as she kept a firm hold on his lead line.
She chuckled slightly at the gelding, despite being the oldest of the herd, he still was always the spunkiest. Presley led Dog over to his paddock next to Birdie. Birdie neighed softly at him, still lying in the grass.
Presley began walking back to the suspiciously quiet trailer. Zorro's never this quiet, she thought to herself. She walked into the trailer slowly and opened the trailer slant Zorro was in. The Barroco stallion nickered slightly to her. He backed out of the trailer slowly, eyes wide as the sun hit him. He let out a loud whinny and paused to listen for any responses. The other horses ignored Zorro, used to his outbursts. He pranced excitedly as Presley led him to the paddock. She unclipped the leadline and the stallion began to trot around his small turnout, nostrils wide and eyes alert.
Presley turned toward the ocean horizon. The sun was setting and the seagulls were lulling in the background. The crash of the waves on the shore was still distantly heard.
"We are going to enjoy it in Jorvik," Presley said aloud. She turned around and walked back toward the stable with a smile.

AHHHHH, THE CREW HAS MOVED!!! I feel like I've fallen in love with Jorvik over the last several months. And having a setting that I can explore and get to know, has made this relocation feel really needed. I cannot wait to see what adventures are to come.
