Description
This painting shows a lone scout looking towards a setting sun over a warm, barren desert. Origianlly the scout was ment to take up about 1/4 ~ 1/5 of the painting, but i decided to make him very small, in order to give the impression of a more barren and desolate area. The painting is made in this long, panoramic size because it was initially intende as a banner. And now for some stats:original size: 720x3762 pixels
Photoshop CS2
Wacom Tablet.
Inspiration: World of Warcraft
Very open for critique. Advanced Critique Encouraged.

it is strange that all the mountains would land on the horizon and the plane is like a couple hundred airs rocks, look at mountains in real life and you will see they lead onto each other with ridges rather than being standalone things.

the mountains are painted in on lone stroke above the initial horizonline so all the mountains are acctually connected with ridges, and if you look at photos of mountains that are far far away (like these) you'll see that the ridges blend into the ground making the mountains themselves look smaller didn't really understand what you ment with "airs rocks", but the reason there's no actual mountains in the valley is because it is a valley, surrounded by the mountains and rocks the scout is standing on.
anyways, thanks for the crit

Terrific work man. The hues of colour; the perspective of the peaks in the distance - all brilliant!
Just suggestion: you reckon it would resemble world of warcraft or a forsaken area if there was a pall or two of smoke rising faintly in the distance?

Hey thanks for the comment
I was aiming for a desert that could resemble the barrens or durotar, but your suggestion is a good one, will keep it in mind for my next piece
