They are called lorikeets, and yes, while they are quite dazzling, they breed like flies and make such a rackett if you don't feed them. Try about thirty of the above individuals alighting upon your front lawn at 6am on a winter morning, each one screaming...

Our pest-birds here are boring colors (usually brown, grey, black, or some combo)

Yes, I must admit that they are a wonderful blend of colour, and pleasing to the eye.
Sorry that your birds aren't as multicoloured as ours. I'll try to capture more of our pests on camera for you.
