Description
I won 1st place for this drawing at my college. The theme was based around the book Night by Ellie Wiesel (which is his experience as a jew in concentration camps). I wanted to make something that was bold and memorable like the book. Pokojowy means peace in Polish (I think, sorry if that's wrong), for contrast. I'm not an anti-semite, don't take offense.Charcoal and pastel on paper

I read that book for Modern History three years back...I still remember it like I finished reading it yesterday...I can't believe how something like this could happen...Its just so...cruel...
In an interview that he had on Oprah one time...he said that he wanted to put all the hate he was feeling...but that would take away what he was trying to say...the book could've been at least...800 pages+...
I gotta tell you...its very memorable...you did an excellent job!!

thanks! i'm pretty proud of this one considering i kind of rushed it to get it in to the contest. and i usually don't "finish" drawings, like putting a border around and making polished details to make it look like a comprehensive work instead of just a sketch. i'm working on doing more like this (not the theme, just making finished works with meaning). thanks, i appreciate the kind words.
