Toho wasted their potential at making a Godzilla Anime and all 3 films are what I describe in 3 words: Boring, Dreadful, and Disappointing. Seriously, this trilogy bored me so much to the point where I just wanted to pause them and never watch any of them again. The human characters didn't interest me one bit, Haruo's obsession could have been used in a better way but his obsession borders on insanity. Godzilla himself was a lumbering slug since he's basically a giant tree and his fights are not only slow but repetitive. There were interesting elements but they were never fully developed. Mechagodzilla as a city may be an original idea but the design itself looks like crap, worst Mecha Ever! Finally, Ghidorah aka the golden vampire noodle who travels dimensions is another wasted take on the character, he may have destroyed a mothership but probably caused the worst and most boring Godzilla vs Ghidorah fight ever! In animation, you have the freedom to do just about whatever you want as you're not restricted by real life physics yet, Final Wars felt more anime like than this trilogy trash.

Godzilla: Rulers Of Earth comic series by IDW should have been the Godzilla anime we deserve. That's right, a comic book series feels a lot more anime like than the actual anime trilogy. The art style provided by Matt Frank aka KaijuSamurai and Jeff Zornow is absolutely adored by G-Fans. (Especially me!) This series has an enormous handful of Kaiju including some that have never made any comic appearance's before, including Zilla, Orga, The Gargantuan Twins, Varan, Gezora and even Jet Jaguar. The humans were actually very interesting and each of them is written just right such as Steven Woods and Lucy Casprell who are both compassionate and fearless when it comes to dealing with the Kaiju's. The alien race such as the Cryogs and Devonians are both spectacular antagonists and you be surprised to know that Orga and Gigan were controlled by the Cryogs while Destoroyah and Biollante were created by the Devonians, really neat ideas. The symbolism within this series may be the exact same with aliens controlling monsters, global attacks and it's up to Godzilla to save all of humanity but in a extremely great way. The pacing happens to be just perfect, it keeps moving along and there wasn't a single issue that bored me since each and every one of them holds at least one Kaiju brawl for my eyes to read and watch. Rulers Of Earth invest it's attention mostly on the Kaiju themselves and shows some excited match-ups that have never been seen before like King Caesar vs Megalon, Jet Jeguar vs Orga, SpaceGodzilla vs Gigan, Varan vs Rodan, and Godzilla finally facing off against the Gargantuan's. Another cool thing I have to mention about this comic series is that it introduce's an original race of alien Kaiju called Trilopods who are legit so much cooler than the Servums. These guys drink the blood of other Kaiju and transform into a hybrid of their victim, I really love that idea the guys at IDW were able to pull off. It’s in this series where Godzilla truly feels like the King Of The Monsters and their also happens to be some clever Easter Eggs hidden around that G-Fans can easily recognize. I'll never get tired rereading every issue since this is a true Godzilla anime!
