Description

So Spookapi created this awesome idea for a fantribe and after reading all their posts and info about them my mind was just racing with ideas and I had to create a DayWing! I think the concept fits so well within the actual canon and there’s a lot of really cool things that Spookapi came up with for this tribe.

Thea

《Name Meaning》
Thea’s name is an alternate spelling of Theia, the Greek Titan goddess of light. The Greeks believed her eyes were beams of light, helping them see with their own mortal eyes. She is associated with shining metals, particularly gold, as well as the gift of prophecy.

Twlight(Half-Light) DayWing

《Appearance》
Thea is a twilight DayWing, and so is darker and less bright than a normal, full light DayWing. The majority of her body is quite dull, and in dim lighting she appears more gray than yellow. Only the scales running down her limbs and the ridges on her spine(see reference for exact placement) are a polished and glittering golden color. Her talons and horns are also gold and lusterous. Her underbelly scales, tail tip, and inner wing membrane are the lightest spots on her body. Her dark brown/gray spots follow the curvature of her wings, neck, and tail. Some of Thea’s other distinguishing features are the white strip of scales right underneath her eye and the two white freckle-like scales adjacent to it. Her eyes are a very pale yellow, practically white, and are noticeably slanted and almond shaped. Thea is rather small for a DayWing, and most dragons her age tower over her small figure(could easily ride on the back of an average sized dragon).

Thea rarely wears accessories. She is rather sheepish and doesn’t feel like she has the confidence or beauty to flaunt a lot of jewelry.

《Powers/Abilities》
Thea was lucky, given that twilight DayWings have less chance to be an animus, and was born with the tribes renowned animus gene. However she often has difficulty controlling her power, and it can be unreliable and get out of hand at times. Using her power for too long or for too big of enchantments will drain her of energy, and if large enough could be life-threatening. The one thing she seems to have mastered is using her power for music. Thea is a particularly good singer and loves to preform for the entertainment of high class DayWings. Her favorite instrument to play is the harp. Aside from her animus magic, she has no other real powers. Her fighting abilities are very limited due to her small size, and she is terrified of battle.

《Personality》
Thea is usually pretty shy, and is easily flustered(blushes a lot). She enjoys expressing herself through her music, and one of the only times she feels confident in herself is when she is alone singing or playing her instruments. She is actually very intelligent and creative, but is a bit slow and many dragons mistake that for her being dull-witted. Thea is insecure, both about her appearance (sees herself boring and dull compared to the other beautiful and brightly colored DayWings) and her far from perfect animus magic. She can get easily attached to anyone who shows her kindness, as she is used to being treated terribly and called rude names(the particular name that she loathes is “DullWing” and hates the phrase even if it’s not directed at her). She holds tight to her friends and is very dependable and loyal. Thea also tends to fall in love easily.

Mother
Incandescence, a full light DayWing. Previously a high ranking noble obsessed with appearance and reputation. Used her animus magic to enchant a bronze torc to give the appearance that she never ages. Selfish and cruel.

Father
Hyperion, a full light DayWing. Close confidant of the queen, helps track the new DayWings
born to add to Daybreak’s list of enchantments. Secretly very cowardly and is desperate to keep on the the Queen’s good side. His worst fear is that a lethal enchantment against the queen will be transferred onto himself. Hyperion’s ultimate goal is to convince Daybreak to remove his name from the list of DayWings an attempted assasination would backfire upon.

Friends
Luminary, a full light DayWing(Spookapi’s character). Before Lu disappeared, Thea was friends with the talented animus. They met while training to enter Queen Daybreak’s inner circle. She shared Lu’s curiosity about the world around them and desire to know what lied outside the DayWing island.

《Backstory》
Thea’s family(her mother’s side)was known for their lineage of full light, beautiful, and skilled animuses. They were always careful to make sure their eggs got plenty of sunlight, and were only permitted to have a full light partner. They looked down upon the no light “Dullwings”, seeing them as inferior and peasant-like. Dragonets were expected to fight to be accepted into training under Queen Daybreak as soon as they displayed the first signs of their power. Incandescene was raised no differently. She met Hyperion, another full light DayWing, at one of the Daybreak’s parties and they fell in love. She soon became pregnant. Per usual, they took every precaution to ensure the dragonet would be a full light animus. One day, as the sun was setting, Thea’s egg was beginning to wiggle, but she wasn’t due to hatch for another month. Incandescene was worried that she would hatch after the sun slipped behind the horizon. Desperate to continue her family’s ancestry of full light animuses, she broke open Thea’s egg so the little dragonet would be born while there was still some sunlight left(resulting in her smaller than normal size). All of the other eggs in the nursery hatched a month later when the sun was high and bright. At first, her mother thought her gray coloring was just due to her unnatural and early hatching, but as time went on, her and Hyperion realized it was because she was born half light. Disgusted, Incandescene would call her daughter “DullWing” and
all sorts of other crude names. She and Hyperion tried to hide their dragonet from the world, and gave her the elegant name “Thea” (Titan goddess of light) to cover up the fact that she wasn’t full light to other dragons. However, Incandescene soon began to notice that her daughter was showing signs of being an animus. This came as a shock, thinking that she would have no chance to be born with magic, but she was hopeful that this could be redemption for her families reputation. She enchanted
a small earring to alter Thea’s appearance into looking as if she were a full light DayWing, and forced her to wear it at all times. Then she sent her off to begin training for becoming a confidant of Queen Daybreak. With Incandescene’s family having a high status and being known for producing skilled animuses, Thea was accepted and began her training. (Optional: ) Here, she met another DayWing named Lu. Things were going fairly well, and Thea thought her mother was actually happy with her for once. One day however, an enchantment of Thea’s got out of control and in trying to stop it, her earring was ripped out. Incandescene was humiliated, and pulled her out of training immediately. Disowning Thea and leaving her to fend for herself, Incandescene enchanted Hyperion to forget he ever had a daughter and altered Thea’s memory to make her believe her father had died before she was born. Incandescene then went into hiding and has never been seen again. After being abandoned, Thea found comfort in music. She tried her best to put the incident behind her but still lacks confidence in herself due to her mother’s constant belittling. Thea now sings and plays harp for DayWing nobility, using her animus magic to help clear up a scratchy throat or soothe sore talons after a long performance. Her harp is also magicked with a couple of simple enchantments to project the sound, keep strings from breaking, and other small things. Currently, she is worried about the mysterious disappearance of her friend, Luminary.
