Finally got to finish this commission from last year's G-Fest - 's Hyenia, King Nathair, and Morkhan!

The setup was having Hyenia grappling King Nathair similar to the image of Kong fighting the Skullcrawler, with Morkhan joining the fight. From there, I decided to experiment a little with the shading. Rather than my usual method of almost exclusively using the ink tool, or my "time crunch" technique of using a soft brush, I used a couple of the other brushes GIMP has (plus one I made myself), along with trying out some of the pressure dynamics. After all, I wanna see what I can really pull off with my tablet. Ultimately, I wanted to push the sense of texture with the shading, not just form and depth. Of course I did use the ink tool for some areas, since the smooth stroke is appropriate for certain areas, as well as the highlight strokes.

I was also a bit intrigued by the energy King Nathair emits. It's supposed to be something of a "dark fire", which was the impression I got from the reference image I was provided. I like to imagine touching it won't physically burn you, but it would inflict the pain of being burned.
