It's something you put in your bath to make it smell nice
sometimes they come with nice foam/bubbles and they can be several pretty colors
some have sparkles too and when you get out of the bath you look like some sparkly goddess

Oh! I see why it wouldn't work on the shower.
Wait! Do you know those net bags used for soap sometimes? You could tput the bath bomb on it and tie it to the shower so the water makes the bubbles as it falls.
