Some in the general staff of the Royal Guard did not trust the Princesses' favourites, the "Element Bearers" to be able to protect Equestria against the many threats it faced. Because of that, Director Church was instruced to enhance a group of volunteers from the Day and Night Watches into super-soldiers who would be more predictable and reliable (read: controllable) defence against the many unknowns lurking in the shadows than the idiosyncratic and eccentric Bearers.
The result was Project Freeprancer: fifty of the very best guardsponies trained to operate with the very latest weapons, armour and magitech special enhancements. A new generation of soldiers capable of fighting the new kind of war against both internal threats of insurrection and organised crime and the looming exterior threats like the Changelings and the Griffin Empire. They were the best trained, the best equipped and the best-prepared warriors in Equestria.
However, just beneath the surface hid secrets and a terrible sickness eating away at the project from within. For one pony's ambitions threatened to undo all their work and turn what should have been the greatest military R&D project of the post-Nightmare Moon era into a disaster.
And into that disaster, brave, idealistic, desperate for approval and determined to be the best, entered a filly named Canterlina. It was her fate to become a champion of legendary status but the trials she would face along the way would be a legend in their own right.
This is the story of how Project Freeprancer both failed and succeeded beyond its Director's wildest dreams. This is the story of how one man's desperate reaching out for the dead past doomed innocents without number to torment and death. This is the story of a war based on a lie created as part of a strange, insane scientific experiments. This is the story of how one young mare reconnected with her past and found redemption.

It's a story idea that came to me as I looked at your picture - a rewriting of the Red vs. Blue story in the MLP: FiM universe. I'm not sure if MLP would necessarily support such a dark tale but it would be interesting to see if you could shoehorn the two universes together.

I don't think MLP would ever allow such a thing to happen (it might if the ethically-shaky parts were taken out though), but your story is actually pretty close to what I had in mind for the tumblr blog before it became derelict.

Heh, his resemblance to Derpy is coincidental due to his armour's colour scheme. Though the resemblance may or may not be touched upon in a future tumblr post, depending on input...
Yeah, Wash and CT's interaction here plays off of their chemistry in season 9. Sort of. I extrapolated a bit for what that interaction would look like in a comedy series with ponies. Lol.
