Description
I'm Back!!! Yaaaay!I finally had some time to do a drawing. I really missed this stuff!
Anyways, I'm behind on games, but here is Fenris from Dragon Age 2. He's lingering around Hightown looking for trouble.
You know that feeling you get when you finish something good but you want more? Well, I did this drawing to help me get over that feeling. Not quite sure if it's gone yet. (Yes, I enjoyed Dragon Age 2).
In the game I always wondered why his clothes had a strange sheen to it, even though it kinda looks like leather. Then it hit me! He must be wearing a monster hide/leather of some sort from the game! Which is why it looks kinda unnatural. I dunno what creature though, I'm just speculating. Also, I'm not sure if the spikey stuff on his shoulder was suppose to be feathers or not. Well, maybe next time. Oh, I do have a version where his clothes is more black, but I thought the brown looked good with his skin.
Admittedly, I did this for a quick practice, but then I kept going and going. Originally, I had no background either, so I threw something together because it felt too empty without one. Also, this is not the best of poses, but I like drawing full bodies when I can.
Anyways, with Dragon Age: Inquisition around the corner it's a good time for me to catch up on Dragon Age.
I'm tempted to draw other Dragon Age characters, but since I played on PC, I modded some of the characters to look quite different throughout the game.
I still like DC comics by the way. Grayson #1 was fun! Admittedly, I'm behind on comics
Oh plz critique! I still want to improve. I would like to be aware of my problems for the future.

I don't know what it is about this... the legs are making me feel uncomfortable. They seem to bend a little too unnaturally, but hell of a lot better than I could ever do. Let me tell you:I cannot draw anything below the neckline. Well, I can get shoulders in and perhaps a bit of the arm, but you can do a complete body and so, I most tip my hat to you. Even so, I thought I might point it out. Unless it's just me and then just ignore me and take that this is a great Fenris picture. Love the expression in his eyes

Thank you for critiquing! I really appreciate it.
I admit legs are not my strong place. It takes a lot of practice and studying, but I hope to be able to draw the entire body decently one day. Sometimes I am aware of my own problems but I find it difficult to translate the correct way onto paper.
but that just means we both have things we can learn more about
Glad you like my Fenris picture. He is so cool

Aw thanks!
You're a Jowan fan? You know, I didn't even realize Jowan had fans. That's pretty neat.

You are very welcome and yes, I am a diehard Jowan fangirl! There are few if us but we do exist! His voice actor follows me on twitter, actually. I'm not sure why. I don't really use twitter. I'm big into the DA fan communities on Facebook and I'm usually one of the few who love Jowan. At least I don't have to fight over him LOL.

That's cool the vice actor for Jowan follows you!
Haha, I didn't know people fought over characters.

Aw, thanks Cassie!
Dragon Age is a fun game. It's like Lord of the Rings, but a different fantasy world.

YES YES YES YES. Fenris, you broody lug, how I've missed you!
Seriously though, you have no idea how giddy I am seeing Dragon Age fanart from you, and your art never disappoints!
Honestly, I had to smile when I read your description; I can definitely relate when I first drew Fenris, too. Are those feathers on his shoulders, or spikes, or...? Also, I admire how you had the patience to draw a full-body here. I only drew him from the waist-up, so I had an excuse to skip his feet.
I'm sorry to say that I've been a little off my game lately, so I can't really offer any criticism that's too in-depth. Vampirehunterneko has a point regarding the legs being a touch thin, but like you also mentioned, elves are stick men with pointy ears...particularly Fenris, who's anatomy reminds me of a preying mantis.
So I suppose the only criticism I have here would be regarding the shadows under Fenris; I understand how the background was sort of last-minute, but the way the shadows lay out before him without much form kind of makes him look like he's hovering slightly above the ground. You also could've gone a little lighter instead of using black, which would make the shadows more subtle. Using a dark warm color would've given the art a much softer feel, I believe.
But honestly, I just can't point anything out aside from that. I looked over the anatomy again and again, and I can't seem to find something too big to nitpick on.
Fenris can be a complicated character to draw, but goodness, you pulled it off with flying colors.
I can't wait for more of your art, and I'm looking forward to Dragon Age: Inquisition too. Maybe we'll both be doing more DA fanart soon, haha.

Yay! Broody elf!!!
Good point on the shadows! I probably could have worked on it a bit more to make it seem a bit more grounded.
Oh man! That would be awesome if we both did Dragon Age fanart!
Anyways, thanks a bunch Whiskey, I hope you get to come back to us soon.

Agh, I'm going to be so happy seeing him again in Inquisition! I mean, if he's even in it; let's hope he is!
(I want to actually see how my choices in the past games impacted the world, and I want to see my old companions, darnit)
Whew, I'm glad I managed to help somehow! ^^ To be honest, if I went the same route as you did and decided to add a background just before I posted it online, I probably would've been too lazy to even add the shadow. XD That, and it's super tricky to get the shadow to work just right with the lighting, so it's really great to see that the shadow's even there at all!
Haha, great minds think alike! If you decide to draw any more DA fanart, I can't wait to see more of your ideas!
Ugh, any social life I may have will become nonexistent as soon as I get my hands on that game...
No problem, and thank you so much for your own support, Alpha.

Haha, I want to hear that broody voice of his again too!
I'm glad I made my shadow mistake, maybe next time I won't do it again.
I want to draw more DA fanart, but I modded characters to look different. So I wooonder if I should draw how I remembered them...or how they really look. haha. I'll figure it out. It will be a surprise!

Excuse me for my not-so-subtle comment, but I could definitely listen to Gideon Emery talk all day.
Aaagh, I play on console, so I don't have the luxury of modding the characters! Some of those mods I've seen are so nice...Urgh, I'm definitely jealous of you!
Honestly, try drawing your own interpretations of the characters, whether they're inspired from the mods or a unique take of your own! I admit, seeing you draw something I enjoy is nice, but it's always your style and ideas that really give your pieces their distinct charm.

This is awesome!
Seriously, I am so jealous of your coloring skills. Especially the hair and background, because they look down right amazing.
If I had to criticize anything I'd say the legs look eerily thin. Also his feet are a bit too small. A foot is about the same length as a lower arm and his are like 3/4. But hey maybe I'm just talking nonsense here. It's not like I got a PhD in elf anatomy or anything xD
Never played Dragon Age. What kind of game is it?

Aw thanks!
Hrm...the leg is a bit thin! I remember seeing that problem in some of my older pics (usually I forget to thicken it up)...but I think in this case I can pass it off. Elves in the game are super slim and wiry. At first I thought they looked weird but over time I got used to it. It's just their anatomy. At least I'll be more aware of it now.
I'm glad you pointed out the feet too cause I never think about feet sizes. Feet is something I need more practice on. I thiiink in this case as well he can pass off with small feet, him being elvish and all.
Thanks for the critique, otherwise it would take me a lot longer to notice them.
Dragon Age is a RPG! Probably a shining example of what a role-playing game really is. If you played Dungeons and Dragons (or Baldur's Gate or Mass Effect or any Bioware game really) then you already have a feel for what Dragon Age is. Hrm...or it's kinda like Skyrim I guess. Though maybe not as open sandboxy. (I never played Skyrim though).
Basically you create a character from scratch and you set out on an epic journey in a fantasy setting. You meet interesting people, fight epic monsters, do a bunch of quests, and learn about the lore the world is set in. You get a lot of choices in the game and your choices have outcomes. It's really enjoyable! Especially for those that might like a somewhat quirky fantasy world.
Dragon Age: Origins (1) and Dragon Age 2 are kinda different though, but I don't know how well I can explain the differences without going into a long paragraph. Both are good. Dragon Age: Inquisition (3) is coming out soon, so I'm glad I finally got into the Dragon Age series.
