Through the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, Gwythyr's loyalty is unquestionable. It can be difficult for this stallion to trust someone, but once the bonds of loyalty are formed, they can never truly be broken. They can be notched, yes, but never truly snapped. Hate him, fear him, dislike him however much you wish, he will still come through to save you. This stallion is also very observant. Maybe too observant. He can notice the slightest change in other beings based on his previous notes he mentally took on them, takes the time to observe his surroundings--and almost never misses the cheeky thieves that pass through his small business every now and then. He can be pretty blunt about his observations, telling the cold hard facts how it is--of course there is exceptions to this. One doesn’t just casually tell another that their mother died, right? But generally this stallion isn’t too worried about others’ reactions to his ways.
There are some downsides to Gwythyr too, of course; firstly, many things in the recent years still haunt him, Ceri’s death especially. He is having trouble letting go, and thus feels some bitterness from his circumstances. Despite the fact that his parents and in-law parents are still living at his inn, Gwythyr often feels alone in this world, as though he walks a worn path of losing a loved one completely alone, when in truth he is perhaps too blind to see that he does have living family that cares about him, but is also too shut off to let anyone in too close again. However he’s also a little too stubborn to simply let go like it’s no big deal. And is it really not a big deal, at least for him? Still, if he can’t learn to let some things go, he’ll be trapped in an endless cycle of being shut off but also lonely forever…

History:
Bryn and Alaw had known each other since the pair were very young, thus when they got together as teenagers it was not too surprising that they ended up never grew apart, and their story together was all the more cherishing. After receiving approval from the War Lord, the pair conceived and birthed Delyth, their first child and only daughter.
Delyth was always sort of a shy female who cared about doing well in the world, thus she didn’t really gain many friends. She wasn’t all that interested in being a Travelling Merchant like the rest of her family line either, and she was more interested in becoming a Medic. She was sort of an odd one because of her wildly different goals than what was expected of her, but Bryn and Alaw did their best not to hold it against their daughter and did their best to support her, even if not always sure why her motives were the way they were.
Gwythyr was the second born, the pair conceiving him after discovering that their daughter, Delyth, planned to leave them soon to go pursue her own interests despite still being decently young of age. Unrealizing that the birth of Gwythyr only drove Delyth even further away, and Gwythyr was no more than three months old when his older sister left. He did not get to know her that well and still doesn’t really know of her, all he knew was that she was interested in becoming a Medic.
Bryn and Alaw, as aforementioned, did want to support their daughter but they also wanted a child that would carry on their family line of Travelling Merchants after they were gone. They were quick to nudge Gwythyr towards being a Travelling Merchant at a young age, grooming him up and teaching him about it. Their efforts proved them successful, as before even adolescence Gwythyr was sold on being a Travelling Merchant like them.
Bryn opened up an inn in Skeldr Town, of which Gwythyr was of course expected to help out with. At first the young male wasn’t too interested in the inn, but he found himself sinking in quickly, easily finding himself able to talk to others. He’d certainly be a wonderful business figure someday.
It was when he was in his adolescence that he met her. Gwythyr and Bryn were in her family-run merchant business, looking to trade some goods, and she and her mother did business with them. Gwythyr learned the pretty little mare’s name to be Ceri. The pair were attracted to each other, continuing to meet after that. They formed a relationship no more than three months later.
After a good two years or so of being in a relationship, Gwythyr sometimes having to be away to complete his new Travelling Merchant duties, the pair decided to become official. They received approval and a blessing from the War Lord and after marrying, conceived Alun.
Ceri was now pregnant, and thus Gwythyr found himself not continuing his Travelling Merchant obligations, as much as he knew he should. He just wanted to stay back and take care of his wife. However Bryn was becoming very weak and ragged, and Alaw urged Gwythyr to go with his father, wanting someone to watch after him. Gwythyr agreed hesitantly, but fretted for Ceri’s well-being; Ceri assured him that she would be just fine. Knowing that his mother and her parents would watch for her, Gwythyr and Bryn set out.
Gwythyr didn’t realize how much he missed seeing the sights of Onea until he went out. The scenery, the air… he and Bryn had a nice trip. Nothing went wrong. However, things were not doing so great with Ceri back in Skeldr Town; she was nearing her due date, but she fell ill. Alaw and Ceri’s parents did the best they could to help her improve, very worried about her and the foal, but although she’d improved some, she went into labor very weak. She bore the foal through intense strain, and such strain was too much for her already weak body; she died shortly after his birth, though she managed to name him Alun. When Gwythyr came back to Skeldr Town, he was devastated at the news of her death. He lapsed into a deep depression, heartbroken after Ceri’s death and blaming himself for taking so long to get home. This sadness within him only continued to deepen, leaving Alun with his grandparents and going off to continue travelling with Bryn.
Whenever he and his father returned from their travels, it always brought Gwythyr a little more joy every time to see his son excited to see him. It made him wish he could do more for him, but at the time just had to rely on bringing back the best stories for him to listen to and perhaps a small little treat every now and again. However after a good while of traveling, Bryn finally realized his old age and weak body was no longer fit for travelling and retired alongside Alaw. Seeing the opportunity to continue the lineage of Travelling Merchants, and likely secretly not wanting to travel alone, Gwythyr invited Alun to travel with him. His son excitedly agreed, and similarly to how he was taught, Gwythyr taught him all about the business world on their travels. He did his best to set good examples and was happy that Alun was a fast learner who was interested in what he spoke of.
They had good times travelling for the next five years or so, but one certain trip didn’t seem to be in their favor. The trip was just fine so far, just an ordinary trip, but in the darkness of the night the pair were ambushed by robbers. They put up a fight, doing their best to defend their items, but Alun was knocked out with a swift blow to the back of his head. Enraged, Gwythyr fought harder, leaving plenty of wounds… but gaining many of his own. He too was knocked out, but found himself awakening a little earlier than Alun, wounds stinging from the fight he’d put up. All their belongings were gone, and the robbers were no where in sight, only a blood trail following where they’d run off to. But they couldn’t put up a fight now, Gwythyr was still bleeding heavily. Alun rushed his father to a Medic, and thankfully Gwythyr was healed up, though there are still scars today from the fight.
Gwythyr decided to stop being a Travelling Merchant, but because there was still plenty of years of service left in him, he decided to instead be a Stationary Merchant. He implored Alun stop travelling too to stay safe, but his son did not want to stop travelling and seeing the world. Gwythyr does not pressure Alun but does hope for his safety.
In the present day he lives in Skeldr Town, running the inn as well as opening up a small business. He does a good job managing both, allowing his parents and Ceri’s parents to live in the inn. His former strength and large stature has gone with his age, but there’s plenty of life in him to keep working. He tries to stay in communication with Alun and appreciates seeing him when he can.

Other Information/Quirks:
 - A terrific business figure! Gwythyr was taught from a young age how the business world works but he’s also kind and patient to amateurs, especially young ones. Agreeable but not necessarily a pushover.
